STV: Cayars17 Ultimate STV (Release 17 - Jan 18)

Help Please

I just installed Crayars Ver 17 STV and I was playing arround with the interface but I came accross an issue in the Guides section Under Browse by Category.

When I select any show from any of the categories it comes up with the menu that allows you to Watch Now, Record, Adtl Airing Ect...

But when i click watch now nothing happens.

I also noticed that the small preview window has a black square right in the middle.

Did I do something wrong?

It's weird, but I have found more things working the right way after going to v2.2.2, it didn't matter what version of the cayars stv, some things seemed to work at times and at other times I was left wondering how I had gotten the same thing to work before... for example I could not for the life of me get sage to see .iso files until I upgraded to sagetv v2.2.2

I too had the black box in the video preview, but currently do not, I could get it to go away by using overlay instead of vmr9 in v2.1

I hope someone can help me with this. I'm posting it here since I have been using Cayars STV for some time now. For the life of me I can't seem to get this to work. I am trying to play ripped video and also a regular dvd using my external player TheaterTek. The best I could do was get the ripped video to play but if I do that when I try and play a recorded show it would launch TheaterTek. I'm attaching a few files to show how I have it setup. Hopefully someone can help me!!

Quick (hopefully) question: If I "delete orphan files," does it delete ALL orphan files, or just those whose source files have already been deleted? I don't want it to delete orphan files for recordings I haven't watched yet, just for those have have already been deleted (to clean up files not being used). Anyone know if it deletes ALL orphan files, or just those that have no source file (anymore)? Thanks...

It deletes just those files created by comskip that no longer have a parent source mpg file in the same directory. Hence they are "orphaned".

Changing the aspect ratio on a client from the detail settings menu doesn't work in v17. The Aspect ratio setting is a different color. Like it's a server setting or something.

I posted this back in 2993 but I don't think I got a response. When I run CommercialDetection on two computers the first computer will delete the logo.txt file of a show that is being analyzed by Commercial Detection on the second computer.

Is this normal?

I am slowly getting my wife used to this STV (I am getting a little ticked that sagemc doesn't support CS at the moment). I tried to run the external commercial detect D app and it starts up fine, but on the top of the screen, says that the trial has expired. It still goes through the steps (i think). Is this something i need to be a VIP member for? When i originally set it up a while ago i didn't notice the whole 'trial' issue.

First off... Kudos to Cayars for the best STV around (I also need to give credit to the others; Malore, Nielm, Maldude, Salsbst, and anyone I missed).

Question: after watching a show and hitting the back button to get to the list, I've noticed that the selection is on the topmost in the list and not on the show I have just finished watching. Is this by design?

I take it you are using the Malore view for your recordings. Originally it worked in such a way that it would keep the previous show highlighted when returning to the list however upon adding of the feature to delete at the end of the show when it would return it tried to highlight the show but it didn't exist anymore causing the screen to not respond until reloading the menu so I rigged it to just have a default selection to avoid the problem. I keep meaning to look back into the code to improve upon it. Maybe I'll give it a go this weekend... Maybe

I know these are probably very trivial questions but how do you change the background that comes up in TV Guide when you press the record button. When it comes up recording the guide itself turns light blue and gray with the yellow bar. Doesn’t look to bad on a monitor but on the tv it’s hard to see and easy to get lost. I know, cheap TV but all we have now Also, what is the blank square on the top left?

Atlantic, looks like you may not have extracted the stv in the proper folder or with the proper structure. Try extracting it in the Sage folder and see if that helps. The image you attached is not how it is supposed to be. Look at the screenshots in the first post to give you an idea of the proper look.

It is a bug when running in VMR9 with the LiveTV Preview enabled I believe. If you turn off the live preview it should look normal.

Seems when I from VMR9 to Default it picked up the right background color and took the upper left blank box away.

Atlantic: did you not see my post right (two above this one)? It is a bug. When you changed it to default you basically changed it to VMR7 from VMR9. It is a bug when you combine VMR9 and LiveTV Preview window.

Feel dumb for asking but how to you turn off Live TV Preview? Any idea how that affected the background?

Detailed Setup -> Multimedia -> Video Menu Options (press "Modify") -> Display Video on Menus and change to Never or change the other setting from window to background.
