On my system I can't even use the video window, I get the "triangles" and other screen garbage either way so I have it turned off. Mine does work fine in overlay mode so I'm not sure why your system crashes. |

I may be having a similiar problem. I had to rebuild my HTPC recently though after losing my hard drive. Anyway currently when running Cayars the menus no matter where I am in the UI do not clear from the previous location I was. So I am seeing the menu and images from previous locations in the UI I had been. It is essentially not redrawing or clearing the last image.
When I run the original STV this does not happen. I am on the v3 beta of SageTV though too. |

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=89350 [edited] In addition, when searching by title, if you have an old recording by the same name as what you're typing in then it will show up in the "matches" even though there are no "new" listings to record... for instance, if I was looking to find more "LAW AND ORDER" episodes and I start typing "LA" and nothing more... "LAX" would show up as a match, not because there are future episodes that can be recorded, but because I have an old episode, and SageTV sees it as a match as well. Don't know why but it happens on my system, always has... doesn't matter what version of SageTV nor what STV I use

Weather problems - local and WRS
I have searched for the answer everywhere and cannot find the answer.
Both my weather menu items do not work. 1. Local Weather: I get "Failed to run weather retriever: blah blah". I see many others have this same problem but not a solution that works for me. What should I do. 2. WRS: "Failed to load WRS java classes". Again, I see others have this prlblem but not a solution that works for me. I have the latest ultimate STV installed: Cayars17.zip CoreFilesR2.zip .net 1.1 multiple JRE's What else should I do? Thanks, |

There is a set of files that you need to extract to your java's lib\ext\ directory. I think its called java.zip or some such at the beginning of this thread

Have you discovered anything on 18D crashing machines? Just wondering. I'm back on 17 and all seems well (so far...reverted last night).

Well, here is my brief experience. the Local Weather will not work in v.17 because weatherroom.com has temporarily deactivated their XML service... and this is what local weather tries to bring up.
As for the WRS, I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever--works great. That being said, coming from my system admin. experience, I would recommend uninstalling all versions of your java completely, rebooting, re-install 1.5 from the java.com website, and reboot, and see if that helps. Also, when you extracted the CORE and Cayars files, did you keep the paths intact? -osarika Quote:

Glad to hear it mbrown3! I haven't experienced any crashes at all so I was surprised to hear it. Sorry for you, but glad it's not the STV.
Try rolling back your Java and see what happens. |

searching by title lockup
I did a quick search and couldn't find any mention of this. Whenever I do a search by title a list comes up matching the critieria of the search, some of the entries in the list I know are not actually going to be aired in the next 2 weeks or so. If I click on these entries the UI locks up and won't allow any inputs, I let it sit for over 15 minutes to see if maybe it was just struggling, but still nothing. The previous behavior was to display a window saying that no entries were found. I am using 2.2.5 RC with Cayars 17. Anyone have any ideas?
