hi guys, hope you can help,
I reconfigured my sagetv box today as i was getting a bit tired, reloaded xp, all my drivers etc, and installed sage, Im i nth euk using xmltv. I couldnt be bothered setting up al the chanels immediatley as i wanted to tweak the system get everythign running nice how i like it, so i set up ukl channels 1 to 5 and bbc3 via my sky digital and infra red chnnel changer, I think installed cayars 17 ultimate stv and pretty much left most of it as defaults, it worked great the mini guide was fine everyhign was fine.

Once i got around to it i set up the rest of the uk sky channels, remapping and enabling them.
Now the mini guide isnt workign fo rthe channels i added, it works fine for the channels i had on originaly, but not any of the new ones, when i pres up/down on it it simply displays itself as an empty pane.

What to do ?

thanks

Call different external players based on file type

The STV calls this external cmd file and passes in the filename. Just change this to point to your program. You can add any addition command line switches you want and use the %1 in place of the filename. In the WMP example that is there I also pass "/fullscreen /prefetch:1" command line args which you probably don't need.
I have modified my VideoPlayer.cmd file to invoke different players based upon file type. In my case, I am using a program called Media Player Classic for QuickTime files (.qt and .mov) and Windows Media Player for everything else.

For those who are interested, you can install Media Player Classic and QuickTime codecs by installing QuickTime Alternative.

Here is my VideoPlayer.cmd file:
Code:
@echo off
for %%I in (%1) do set ext=%%~xI
if "%ext%"==".mov" goto QuickTime
if "%ext%"==".qt" goto QuickTime
goto Default

:QuickTime
"C:\Program Files\Media Player Classic\mplayerc.exe" %1 /fullscreen /play /close
goto End

:Default
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" %1 /fullscreen /prefetch:1

:End
I hope this helps someone.

Obscue bug found

Carlo,

I think I have found a very obscure bug that's present in both Cayars16 and 17.....

1. Set up a favorite.
2. Try to change the timeslot to 4pm....

On only the 4pm timeslot, it will change to 2am. All others work.

I only found becuase of trying to record something at 4pm :-)

I think Cayars has disappeared, it seems! I'm anxiously awaiting the 18 download info, as I upped my contribution so that I could get it. That's been almost a week now, and I still haven't heard anything. It's no big deal (I'm sure he's doing something that will ultimately benefit us anyway), I'm just anxious to try 18 and the new commdetect process.

I'm in the same situation. Sent in my contribution and PM'ed him last week. Now just waiting for download info. I hope everything is OK for him.

That sounds like a core bug. Did you try it with another STV?

I think the only reason "Local Weather" worked before was because it pointed to an older EXE in the mlbdude directory. Any suggestions for fixing this without using the mlbdude version?

I cannot get it to work either. Even nuked the section in the properties like Cayars had suggested. Still says it failed to execute getweather.exe (i think that's what it says, can't get to my client now).

Anyone, anyone?

The source for the "Local Weather" module is weatherroom.com. According to
this link, their XML weather feeds are currently offline.

The "Local Weather" module uses a URL like http://www.weatherroom.com/xml/ext/<zip>, e.g. http://www.weatherroom.com/xml/ext/38138, to get the data. If this link doesn't work in your browser, then "Local Weather" will not work either.

Perhaps weatherroom.com or someone else will provide a reliable XML weather feed at some point, but until then I am just using Weather Suite.

Thank you kind sir And no it's not working -- I was beginning to think it was their junk that was the issue -- not ours

Timeslot is a custom Cayars feature and not available on OriginalV2.

The 4PM timeslot is an issue in the Cayars STV, since that problem isn't in the MalDude2 STV. For now, if you really need it to use the 4PM timeslot, you can set it in MalDude2 & then return to using Cayars.

so I am having a problem with comskip in a client/server situation. I have the STV installed on the server and comskip is working fine there. generating the files, showing the pruple sections, and the auto skip is working. on my clients, I have the "use OSD autoskip enabled, but I do not see the purple sections and I do not have the "Com. Auto Skip:Enabled/Disabled" option on the clients. is there something special I need to be doing? I have set the clients up just liek I did the server, but they don't work right.

It's not clear in your comments - do you have the location of the recorded files exactly the same on your server and clients - i.e. R:\TV on all machines (or UNC paths like \\server\tv)?

yes, the paths are the same. a simple root of E:\ is set on all the sage instances. I can play the recorded stuff fine, just can't get the clients to recognize the comskip feature.

Sage is capable of playing the video without having the paths exactly the same - unfortunately the custom STVs require exactly the same path. When the path isn't the same is the only time I've seen a client not pick up on the commercial detect files and marking the recordings (unless you have comm det turned off, which you obviously don't). Does your client(s) have write access to the drive? Not sure if that's necessary or not, but a thought...

I have write acces to the drive. so If my server has the TV directory on E:\, my client needs to have the same drive mapped to E:\ ? right now the drive letter do not match on the drive mappings, but I can easily change that.
