I know thats the problem :-) oddly enough I found and read that thread :-)

problem though. I do NOT watch through sage so is there a way to auto mark ANYTHING that gets recorded as watched simply by it getting recorded ie requiring no action from me ?

I finally couldn't resist adding the ability to customize the LiveTV Guide grid/font size, since that is something I've been meaning to do for quite some time -- simply use the Options command while on that menu.

Also, this contains some changes to try to disable Comskip during DVD playback. Let me know if it works.

February 9, 2005 -- Version 1.6, main changes:
  • Comskip might now be disabled during DVD playback.
  • LiveTV Guide menu's Options dialog (use the Options command) now has options to set the grid's rows count, column count, and font size.
  • New property:
    • opus4/ui/EPG_font_size - LiveTV Guide grid font size; default: 18

I tried to download your 1.6 version without success. I get a Internet explorer error saying its encountered a problem and must close. I also I tried downloading from this thread and it never downloads. Any suggestions?

Edit: Never mind I got it must of been some temporary problem.

Opus,
I am still using this addin. I dont need alot of the other features offered in the others. im setting my friend up on your stv as well, but I cant get thumbnail on dvd videos working. We are both using 2.2.7. If I switch back to the originalV2.stv the thumbnails are imported, then shown in your STV. Your stv does not import new ones, tho. Does this feature work for you?
Thanks for the stv.
cheers.

I don't believe those STVs handle library thumbnails differently, especially since scanning the import library & importing videos + thumbnails is done in the core, not the STV. Are you restarting SageTV when switching STVs? If so, the library would get rescanned at that time. If SageTV is left running, it will rescan the lib periodically automatically or when you select the Refresh Media Library menu item. I _think_ it might have just been a coincidence that the thumbnails happened to show up when the original STV was loaded. But, I don't happen to use any import lib thumbnails with this STV, so if you add a new video, try rescanning & leaving it instead of switching STVs.

Andy,
Thanks for the info. It looks like a Sage bug; I think you are right that the update happened when I loaded the new STV. Using the MalDude2 stv, I updated the .jpg file and shutdown sage (exit not sleep) and when it reloaded it had the new image. It looks like a rescan media will not update the images. Thats ok, the restart should work.

That sounds like something I might have read somewhere recently, but if you can reproduce it all the time with the original STV too, then you should send a note about it to Frey (tech support). It never hurts to make sure they know about something that isn't working correctly.

I am using Neilms Customized menus plugins with the MalDude2 STV on Sage 2.2.7. If I add a menu the references a internal menu, it successfully goes to the menu. If I press the left key to go up a menu, instead of going back to the custom menu that launched it, it instead goes to the internal parent menu. If I press the left key again, it goes to the custom parent menu.
An example from the home menu using my custom menu file:
Select MediaLibrary &DVD
->Arives at the Media Library screen (Custom menu)
Select Imported Video Files
->Arives at the VideoLibrary screen (internal menu)
Press Left
->Arrives at the Media Library & DVD screen (Internal menu)
Press Left
->Arrive at the Media Library screen (Custom)
Press Left
->Arrive back home

Any idea what could be causing this? Do you think it is the MalDude2 stv or Neilms mod?

The same problem occurs when I use Maldude2 with Neilms provided menu xml file. This is not something new, as it has been that way since I added Neilm's STV module last year. I did update everything to the newest (stvs/support files)
thanks.

On many menus, "left" is hard coded to go to up the menu tree to a particular parent menu & on others it is used as a "Back" command, especially when a menu doesn't really have a single parent. I don't use the dynamic menu import, so I have no idea whether that changes any 'left' functionality. But, if you really want to go back to the previous menu, I suggest using the "Back" command instead.

malore style recordings question

I have tried all of the stv's and have settled on MalDude2 STV for my everyday usage. I would like to thank you for a very nice stv.

I use the malore style for the sage recordings. I occasionally go thru the list of recorded shows and delete the few that ir records that I do not care to watch. When I go into the movie folder (for example) to delete movies that I do not care to watch, after deleting one movie the cursor jumps back to the first item in the list on left hand box. I then have to scroll down quite a ways to get back to the movie folder, arrow over and then start going thru the list of movies again. Is there a way to stay in the movie folder or for that matter the current position in either pane of the interface after deleting a show?

How are you deleting recordings? I just did it 2 different ways and the cursor stayed in the correct place:
  1. I highlighted a movie and used the right arrow to go to the detailed info page, where I selected Delete, after which the screen returned to the list of movies.

  2. I highlighted a movie and used the Delete command (delete key, or some button on your remote assigned to the Delete command). The movie was deleted & the cursor stayed where it was.
So, if you are deleting via some other method, try one of those.

I've seen funny behavior with Sage when the mouse pointer is left over a certain area of the screen. Make sure your mouse pointer is somewhere else. I always make it go to the top left corner of my screen so that it can't be over anything in Sage.

The behavior I am describing is seen when I use my gyration wireless mouse so I am guessing that what tomox is saying about the mouse is coming into play. When I get home tonight I will try it using the keys mapped on the remote control and or the keyboard.

- Thanks for quick answers

I've done some more testing and now I see it has nothing to do with the mouse specifically, but for some reason if you delete a show using the delete in the options menu it loses its place but if you trigger the delete function directly with the delete key it works fine. I'm not finding a quick fix for this, so my suggestion is to use the delete function/key.

Opus4,
I have request for ya. I am using comskip and firewire recording with your stv. On the firewire connection, I have some trouble getting programstreams to playback properly, so I am recording the transport stream directly without conversion. Sage saves this stream with a .mpg extension and when comskip tries to run on it, it crashes.

How hard would it be to add the ability to disable comskip only on a list of specific channels, but run on the rest of them? Even if you parse a channel list in the properties file, that would be great.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, something like that would take a lot more time than what I have available. (Apart from the fact that I just used the existing comskip support in malore's STV; I haven't touched it much.) Perhaps look into DirMon to run comskip on certain files?

I added a setting for background commercial processing that does that long ago, so it should be part of maldude.

Look in the sage.properties file for
background_commercial_processing_ignore=

Set it equal to a list of channel numbers you don't want processed.
Ex. background_commercial_processing_ignore=31,71

You might also find it in detailed setup => commercial skip setting => ignored channels.

Malore and Opus,
Thanks for the tip. I figured out that I wanted this feature after I had disabled comskip and when you do that (as Im sure you designed it) it rolls up the settings for it, including the ignored channels settings. As a result I didnt see it.

Thanks to both of you for sharing your excellent work with the community. It is refreshing to see somebody giving selflessly instead of just taking, like so many do.
