Even there is a workaround, but I still don't feel comfortable with my PVR 250. Mine still has poor channel 4 reception or video quality.

I still would like to exchange my wintv pvr 250, but Fry's don't have the old model.

I wonder why there is no official comment on this problem from Hauppauge? Hauppauge have changed TV tunner hardware too often, and quality is getting worse.

one thing I did notice this morning after trying again.

If you have the tuner working through a cable box its better for you to connect the normal cable to the tuner let winTV scan all the channels and then reconnect. at that point the registry and the properties fix does work, however it still dosnt work in cases where the tuner is hard set to a channel. In that case, the issue is resolved when the tuner is set to antenna. Figure this would help someone out.

Can everyone who is experiencing the PVR-250 tuning issue download the following updated driver and give me your feedback? The zip file is located at http://www.sage.tv/3_dlSoft/040908Re....021.22252.zip. Unzip the file to a local folder. Then go into Device Manager and do a driver update and specify the folder where you saved the unzipped files. Make sure all related software is shut down before installing the driver update and let me know your feedback.

Thanks!
Dan

Looks good here! I removed the registry hack (rebooted) and set both old and new tuner cards to cable. Also turned auto_tune back on. Everything works and the quaility is back to normal on the older tuner card!!

Way to go guys! Thanks!

After installing the new driver, SageTV had a picture, but the signal strength and picture quality were way down. This was also true of Hauppauge's WinTV2000 app. Putting the old driver back in fixed the pq problem for WinTV2000, but broke SageTV. Anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas?

After driver update, my result is not all good:

1. (good) STV doesn't have to rely on the registry workaround.

2. (bad) Driver update makes TV reception or video quality worse for all cable channels in WINTV2K and STV2.0. The WINTV2K snapshot of the channel 9 after driver update is attached. Channel 9 was near perfect before driver update.

My PVR-250 has known bad TV reception on channel 4, and the driver update also make it worse. I thnk the TV tuner on the card obviously has hardware defect.

I have to bring my card back to the local store for exchange soon before the 30-day is expired.

I tried the driver update. Channels 2-13 work, but not above 13.
Wintv2000 seems to be lower quality now.
I tried both antenna and cable setup.

The new driver worked great for me. I removed the reg change and set autotune back to true, worked great!

We'll provide the feedback to Hauppauge on the new problems and give you an update later today.

You may want check device manager and be sure it show the rigth ver drivers 1.18.21.22252 or 1,18.21,22252 I think what happing is not update the drivers.
Do you guys have TCL 2002N_6A Tuner.
Try clear out old drivers first there reinstall the new drivers
You know pvr_newbie my local channel alway look that in you screenshot for long I can recall and make not diff which WinTV250 I use but I don't have good antenna just a good rabb ears.

I can't speak for anyone else, but in my case, the drivers definitely got changed to the new ones. I did check device manager and the new drivers were installed. At that point, SageTV worked, but the pq was real bad as a result of what appeared to be very low signal strength or mistuning. WinTV 2000 looked equally bad with the new drivers. After changing the drivers back, SageTV no longer worked and WinTV 2000 had excellent pq and good signal strength. Throughout all of this, none of the hardware or cables were even touched, much less changed. The only change was the driver.

In my device manager it says 1.18.21.22252. I just used the device manager "update driver". Are you saying that doesn't work?

I don't know how to clear out old drivers, where are they?

I don't know if I have a TCL 2002N_6A Tuner, I don't see that anywhere. Where am I supposed to look? I know I have a 32032 Rev B185.

SHS I tested out the drivers
and the quality is horrible with analogue cable

it looked nice with digital cable(well satellite in my case) but there seemed to be performance issues

same deal here. new driver works but quality is less than desirable. not bad but there is a noticable pattern of distortion layed over it like pvr-newies chanel 9 pic.

We should be getting a new version from Hauppauge today. I'll make a post on the forum here once it becomes available.
