Option 2 is to use the webserver and access the cybergenie messages this way via your phone which seems like the better route. I know there are two different web server implementations available for Cybergenie. The one I'm using is .net code and aspx pages so it may require a microsoft phone or browser to play nice - not sure about the second one but Cygnion.org has the details of both free downloads. I haven't gotten that far to try out phone access but hope to at some point. I've been waiting for the much hyped Motorola MPX to come out and rumour has it it should be shipping in the first half of 2005.
As for full home control software, those who are looking into this might also want to checkout HomeSeer.com which seems like a popular option.
