2. it has been so long, that i've forgotten the update procedures and my old notes are who knows where. i will also update openDCT.

could someone please give me a simple sequence of steps to update everything on my linux sageTV server? i'm running ubuntu 21.10 on a 7i7 NUC.

thanks, and really glad to see the activity here.

edit: can i update the sagetv server without updating jetty or is that required? i just went through the jetty3 thread and think i should go in small steps, and fix one problem
before possibly incurring a second wound.
The SageTV upgrade and the Jetty plugin upgrade are done separately...so no issue there.

I don't think you mentioned but I assume you are running windows. Just download the same BIT software installer for your OS (32bit or 64bit)...the links are in here...

https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/sho...60&postcount=2

I always do a backup (copy) of the entire SageTV folder for "just in case"

Then run the installer and it will just update the software in place.

And as for Java...no real need to update that at this time as Java 8 is still likely the most used by SageTV users.

Do Jetty later when you are sure everything else is work well.

update to 9.2.8.1 went fine, but does not resolve the problem with the latest nvidia shield pro v9.0 load

does this give a clue:

It looks like Nvidia broke a bunch of things, including Plex, and there is a mention of permissions needing to be fixed.

New version posted

Hi All,

Version 1.10.0 has been published to Amazon, Google and GitHub. The app store reviews have been a little slow lately, so I would give it a few days before it goes live.

Here is the changes in the release:

- Upgraded to ExoPlayer 2.16.1
- Made modifications required to support ExoPlayer 2.16.1
- Upgraded to ExoPlayer 2.16.1 version of ExoPlayer FFmpeg extension
- Added new preference screens to allow users to change Container/Codec support
- Completely rearchitected how supported containers/codecs are sent to SageTV
- Started adding support for automated Jenkins build and release

There is a change to my build and release process for this release as well. I have added automated build a deploy for the project. I have automatic release deployment working for Google Play and GitHub. Hopefully for the next release I will get Amazon App store deployment working.

Thanks,
Josh

Congratulations on this release! Sounds like a lot of good stuff. A possibly ignorant question: if I install this release, will it assume the key mappings from the previous version, or will I need to create them again?

So here's the tricky thing to explain - this is what home assistant is showing, which picks up the shield as a cast device and displays it as a media player. The media player then has certain metadata associated with the state of the cast device, such as the media title - which shows the show you're watching (potentially, only some apps report this), what app you're using (i.e. Sage, Netflix, Hulu, etc.) and the state (playing, paused, idle, etc.). So I'm saying that when I'm watching something on the miniclient, it reports that I'm in the miniclient app, but the app always reports as 'idle' whether I have a show playing, paused, or am just in a menu.

The commercials are detected at the Server the Client only skips what the server tells it to. Commercial detection is not perfect.

Was watching HDPVR recordings on all of my Nvidia Shields yesterday with no issue. Suddenly today, I can't watch HDPVR recordings on any of them. It's not related to the latest Nvidia update - some of my Shields are still running the older software.

I can see the timeline advancing on the recordings, but just a black screen and no sound.

Anyone else experiencing that?

Already tried that with all of them. I have 3 shields and they are all doing the same thing.

No problem with the HD300's, so not Sage server itself either.

I think the version of the Miniclient may have updated on all of them sometime after I last watched recordings on them yesterday...

Further troubleshooting update…

If I change stream mode from “Dynamic” to “Fixed” on them, I get picture and sound again, as long as I have the Transcoding Preference set to “Always”. If I leave it as “As Needed”, no picture or sound again.

Seems like now I have to force transcoding to watch the HDPVR files….

As long as your are installing ontop of the existing one you should be OK. So upgrading from Google Play or Amazon App Store will keep all of your settings.

If you uninstall and reinstall all of your settings will be gone.

Hi Steve,

What is the container and codec (Audio and Video) of the HDPVR files? I did completely change how the client informs SageTV on what content to transcode. Something could have changed.

Thanks,
Josh
