Also when running a manual sync through the configuration options:
"Sync is in progress
Initializing: 0 of 0 complete"
remains the same on the screen and doesn't update on the screen until completed - I think it did with the initial test plugin.

I had the plugin configured for 100 items for this test sync.
After sync it says: "146 movies and 180 TV shows processed."

But looking at Trakt it appears that about 100 items were synced.

The TV episodes synced to Trakt look pretty accurate (yes!!) but for the Movies there are many that I know where never watched (unknown titles to me) and one movie (Monk 2017) is marked watched 12 times (possibly confused with TV series Monk?)

Log enclosed - Also in log:
Property Brothers Buying & Selling S1E11 was watched but did not sync to Trakt

Thank you for testing!

Sync Progress - This is a known issue. I'm trying to figure out how to get that to refresh automatically. Right now you need to exit the configuration menu and re-enter it for the info to refresh.

Number Synced - I will clean this up. I initially used these stats for testing and did not intend to have it in the final plugin. The "Shows Processed" numbers are the total number of airings looked at. Not all actually get sent to Trakt because they are duplicates, bad airings, etc.

Movies you never watched - They are in the wiz.bin so somebody watched them or at least set them as Watched somewhere in the past.

I'll look at the logfile to see about Monk and The Property Brothers.

Edit: For The Property Brothers - Trakt simply did not recognize that episode. It may be because of the special character in the name. I'll investigate further.
Edit: For Monk - That's a bug. It will be fixed in the next release.

Version 0.04

Here is the next iteration. Changes:

- Added ability to mark upcoming recordings watched if watched on Trakt.
- When user marks a show Watched the current time is used as the watched time.
- Fixed a bug that caused some TV shows to be treated as Movies.
- Backup sets are presented in newest to oldest order.
- On Sync, total movies and total episodes processed was calculated incorrectly.
- Fixed a bug that prevented some shows from being marked as watched when the user had the "Sync if even synced before" setting set to No.
- Added additional error checking before attempting tp get JSON Objects.

Unzip the attached file and put it in your sage install directory. (Where the executable is.)

Go to the plugin manager and it will tell you an update is available. One of the options will be "update".

Sorry, I misread your instructions and did this, instead:

Everything set to NO in plugin (already had these settings in prev. runs)
Updated to 0.4
Removed watched history on Trakt
Verified empty history on Trakt
Deleted all timestamps
Sync'd 100 items
Checked Trakt and then logs

I'm thinking there's an issue with how the watched history is being figured out. Looking at one episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, S04E15 Death Roe, the sage log shows that I watched this ELEVEN times and there's no way in heck I did.

Log file attached.

Let me know if you want me to do it the way you actually asked me to and I'll do everything over again. Nice and easy with the extra tools you built into the plugin!

Well, according to your wiz.bin you did watch it a bunch:

Code:

These are all Airings in your wiz.bin. The time at the end is the time that the wiz.bin thinks you watched it, or set it watched.

Maybe I'll make the default to only sync one airing to track when you are doing this bulk update, even if the wiz.bin thinks you watched it 11 times.

I have a theory about this...
Some channels will show the same episode of a show multiple times in a 1-2 week period. If you watch one of those and hit the delete and set watched button when you finished watching, Sage might flag all the airings of that episode as watched.

That is kind of along the lines of something else I was theorizing. Maybe Sage looks at each guide download, checks for favorites and marks already watched episodes as watched again so it doesn't schedule them to record?

I do agree with Tom that a solution would be to only take the first watched instance during the bulk upload to Trakt.

THEORY #2: Could this be related to different episode ID's? Admittedly, I could see me marking the same episode as watched because Sage didn't and was otherwise going to record it.

Noticed an issue with watched date of TV episode - just finished watching this around 6:00 pm but the log is reporting to Trakt that I watched it in 2014:

Assuming that episode ID theory is correct, something still seems off. The odds of my watching any episode live is extremely slim. That means the time I truly watched it was never recorded in the wiz.bin since all the times are exactly on the hour.. Does Sage not actually note the real time you watched and instead go with an original airing date or similar?

In theory it does. There is an API GetRealWatchedEndTime that is supposed to return the time you finished watching the show. In practice it usually returns 0.

Maybe when this value is 0 the show was not really watched? I'll have to do some testing.

After some more testing I think this is the case. I'll try to get something out later today that deals with this.

I was hoping to get something out today but that is not to be. Bintray is acting up and I'm still working on the code needed to make syncing more reliable. (Addresses dstanley's issue with Property Brothers.)

Using GetRealWatchedEndTime to gauge which shows are really "watched" makes a big difference. This will certainly be in the next version.

I have a busy week this week and I'm out of town the week after. I'll get back to this when I return.

Bintray isn't working at the moment but I do have a new version to try. If you want to give it a go PM me your email address and I'll send you the updated jar.

Had a bit of fun with this one - I wiped by test data from Trakt - deleted the Timestamps - set Everything to sync and performed a clean sync.
Lots of things went well (16,000 entires indicated but not sure if this hit a limit as it seemed to stop at 15, 928 or such).
The TV episodes all look very good - except many are doubled in Trakt. I am looking at these and they all seem to episodes that maybe I partially watched on my HD200 - stopped watching - and then completed later. Thus two watches seem to be synced to Trakt?
Movies are something else - Only 28 movies were transferred and they were from pre-2018 (Could this be from an incomplete sync? I am guessing so).
Does the API have a limit on how much is pushed to Trakt?
Does the plugin have a problem when it gets THAT many entries to sync?

Trakt after full sync:
TV
325 days, 10 hours, 33 mins watching
5,865 episodes (11,635 plays of 520 shows)

MOVIES
3 days, 3 hours, 44 mins watching
28 movies (50 plays)

Looking good Tom!

The plugin has no limits on what it will try to send to Trakt. As for Trakt itself, I have no idea.

I can see the duplicate entries but unfortunately the logfile you sent didn't help too much because it starts after the sync is almost done. You will need to send me sagetv_0.txt AND sagetv_1.txt.

If you want to test the restore feature you can try that instead of simply wiping the trakt database. If you do that send me sagetv_2.txt and sagetv_3.txt too as I'm pretty sure it will create a lot more log entries.

Using 0.5, the decrease is incredible. That L&O episode decreased by 2 watches, BTW.

Before:

Most watched movies:

After:

Most watched movies:

BUT... there's a nasty little side effect to the new RealWatchedEndTime setting. Anything marked as watched in the guide, but never actually watched, will not be sent to Trakt at all when this setting is enabled.

For example, Arachnophobia doesn't show up as ever being watched. Likely, that's technically true, as I probably just marked it as watched so that the intelligent recording engine wouldn't record it for me.

However, even as obsessive as I can sometimes be, I doubt I would've marked a single movie as watched 48 times. IMO, something still seems off with how Sage is determining whether something has been watched. I continue to wonder if Sage goes through every guide download and tries to match up previously watched airings and marks them as watched again. Perhaps, Arachnophobia simply showed up in the guide on 48 separate occasions and Sage marked 47 of them as watched on its own. Or, it could be what Tiki was mentioning.

Without knowing how Sage works, I can't offer up any suggestions for 'fixing' this. What I can say for me, though, is that I'd be happy if the only thing sent to Trakt was the first instance of something getting watched. That goes for both the initial, bulk upload to Trakt, as well as future updates to Trakt.
