I think I have a fix for that. I'm on the road three days this week and three days next week. Between that I'm trying to test the fix to see if it's working.

I came across this website following chatter of duplicate watched Trakt.tv items:
https://huere.net/trakt/duplicate_removal/

Thought it might be of interest to us people playing around with our Trakt data

That's an interesting site. I can probably add something like that into the plugin.

I'm pretty sure I have a fix for the "duplicate watched" issue. The (sort of) bad news is that I keep finding edge cases and exceptions

The latest example is that in some cases Sage and Trakt do not agree on the Season:Epsiode number of a show episode. Very frustrating.

I finally figured out why there are duplicate watches on Trakt after watching once on Sage. I'm kicking myself because it was something I completely overlooked.

If you are scrobbling and you stop watching, Trakt counts this as a watched show.

The workaround for now is to not use scrobbling. Once that is turned off you should only get one watch. I will be working on a real fix.

Version 0.17 has improved matching capabilities and a good number of other fixes and enhancements. I'd really like to get it out sooner rather than later.

That’s great Tom!
I did have scrobbling on - not that I care about it - just did.
Thanks again so much for all your work.
Dwight

Version 0.17

I just published version 0.17. It does not have the fix in it for the duplicate Trakt entries but there are enough other enhancements and bug fixes. Here is the changelog:
  • Retry if Trakt is unavailable when scanning upcoming recordings, setting watched, or clearing watched.
  • Improved searching by searching movies even if the show is identified as an episode.
  • Improved searching by looking for cases where the show title is preceeded by the network name and a colon.
  • Improved performance by saving the Trakt ID and IMDB ID after searching for a show.
  • Added additional debug code and checks to help isolate occasional "null airing in timestamp" message.
  • Added additional error checking when GETing to help isolate occasional "api.trakt.tv" errors.
  • When getting history, specifically check for action=watched.
  • Added ability to parse not_found episodes where the response contains seasons that contain episodes.
  • Improved error handling for cases where null JSON was returned.
  • Explicitly check to make sure user is logged on the Trakt before attempting any actions.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some episodes that were not set watched on Trakt to be reported as watched.
  • Fixed a bug that caused a search failure when the show title contained "+".
  • Fixed a bug that caused UI hang if MediaFile was null.
  • Fixed a bug in the STV causing an occasional error due to Options Menu already being closed.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented episodes that were manually SetWatched to have the timestamp updated if it was watched in the past too.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the progress to be calculated incorrectly when scrobbling.
