I just installed the new version and plugged back in my keyboard.

The ALT and CTRL keys still show as unmapped. (So does the ESC key.) But the numpad keys are now recognized.

EDIT:

I retested and found that the ATL and CTRL key combinations are working. So even though it reports ALT and CTRL displaying as unmapped, the mini-client is recognizing the key combinations.

BTW....I also discovered that Skip Fwd #2 and Skip Bkwd #2 do not work because the Function Keys F7 & F8 are unmapped.

I will test it with my FLIRC later today.

If you turn on "show unmapped keypresses" in the preferences, it will make testing easier.

Thanks for the tip - I will give that a try.

In my testing so far, it seems like it won't accept a Ctrl or Alt combo from FLIRC, but it will from a regular USB keyboard.

What's even stranger is that the same FLIRC combo works in other apps (like Kodi) on the same physical device.

I'll try the 'unmapped keypresses' setting and will report back with my results.

I added an issue to GitHub to map the Function Keys.

Has this been addressed yet? Full keyboard 1:1 mapping?

If you are missing specific keys you will need to enter a bug. Every key has to be manually mapped, so, I've done what I think are the most used, but there are still missing ones, I'm sure. So, if you find them, open a defect.

I'll know more when I have a Shield in my hands

It's looking like I'm going to have to use a Flirc keyboard emulating dongle on a 2017 Shield along with one of a few possible keyboard remapping apps.

My plan is to expose as many of the keycodes and functions listed here: http://forum.flirc.tv/index.php?/top...&comment=12763

That'll end up giving enough mapped buttons to populate decent navigation and transport controls to hopefully work in most apps. I'll then remap within Sage Mini client as needed to get the "buttons" to line up with Sage actions.

I think that you'll find that most are mapped, but, if you find a combination that is not mapped, post it here, and open a defect, and it'll get added.

If you use a Harmony remote with a Hub, you can pair the hub to the Shield so it looks like a Harmony keyboard, and then map the keys on the harmony remote so they register like the shield remote keys.

I like this operation quite a bit, as the shield remote is just a little too sparse for me.

Also, one thing that is still a bother for me with the miniclient is that SageMC suffers from OSD corruption pretty often, so the menu looks pretty weird. It works fine on the HD200 and regular Sage client.

I have tried moving the family over to some of the designed for v9 UI's, but they really prefer the simplicity of the SageMC UI. Right now, they opt to use Plex on the Shield instead of any of the Sage UI's as I have export into plex integrated, but that doesn't work well for liveTV.

thx
mike

Have you tried Gemstone? IMHO it is the best UI for Sage and you can customize the menus to your heart's content.
