OH NO!!!

I spoke too soon. This morning I went to the upcoming recordings menu and there was some extreme weirdness. 1 show I set up to record over the HD HomeRun had a different program name matching an EPG change, however the original show name/episode was showing up as an IR on the SD channel of the same network. Only problem is that both the HD and SD info in the EPG was for the changed show/episode, so where it was coming up with that show/episode is beyond me.
Also I had set to record "The Killpoint" on Spike but it was now showing as a "Timed Record" instead of the show name in the EPG which hadn't changed, plus it had the show description from the EPG.

With fingers crossed I shut down Sage and restarted it. Now I'm back to nothing at all showing up in the upcoming recordings.

Nothing shows up on the Neilm's Webserver either.

If I go to the EPG all the scheduled recordings show up still there with the propper padding which I usually set to -1, +2.

It's looking like my wiz.bin may be completely hosed. I'm going to try going back to my oldest backup set. I have my script set up to cycle through 10 generations of wiz.bin backups deleting the oldest, renaming all the others and then copying the current wiz.bin to the backup directory.

DANG, DANG, DANG!! Looks like a lot of Wiz.bin info might be lost. Worse case scenario that I can see right now is going back to the wiz.bin as it was just prior to installing the current version of SageTV that I'm running. I alway zip up the entire Sage directory prior to installing a new version.

This is one unhappy camper right now.
Now where's that wiz.bin rebuilding utility we so desperately need?

Do you mean that shows scheduled to record are marked in the Program Guide, but not displayed in the Recording Schedule menu? If so, are shows getting recorded? And, what Recording Schedule menu are you using?

I would report any wiz.bin problesm to SageTV, just in case there is something they need to know.

Yep, they were showing up in the program guide, but recording schedule was empty. I'm using the stock Sage XML's menu's, malore etc not used.

I went back several days worth of wiz.bin backups and have one that now seems to be working for the scheduling problem.

I seem to have another problem and I'm not sure if it's a wiz.bin problem or something else. My EPG data stops this coming Monday at 7pm. Is the EPG data stored in the wiz.bin also?
I've tried forcing an update via Neilm's Webserver as well as doing a rescan of the HD Homeruns lineup which added a couple channels.

I'll report my wiz.bin problem to Sage and save off the bad file in case they need it.

Since you've restored an older wiz.bin file, try the 'server_update_id' property file edit from this FAQ.

That did the trick Opus!

I did notice something before I did that. It wasn't that the guide was completely empty starting at 8pm Monday. There were just huge holes in the data, but there was some there. Also the data became full again if you went out to 8pm on Monday the following week. Weird, but probably was due to using the older bin file combined with the data in the properties file.

At any rate thanks, once again you've saved a user from throwing away YEARS of wiz.bin data!

Just an FYI, Sage support emailed me and I've sent the offending Wiz.Bin file off to them.

I also explained how your advice about the "server_update_id" entries in Sage.Properties did the trick with the EPG data problem I had.

Thanks again Opus!

found another solution

Hi toxmox,

inbetween i found another solution:

Code:
net stop "SageTV" >nul
process -q SageTV.exe >nul

pkzip25 -add -attributes=all -rec -dir=current c:\Backups\sage_config.zip "C:\Programme\SageTV\SageTV\wiz.bak" >nul
pkzip25 -add -attributes=all -rec -dir=current c:\Backups\sage_config.zip "C:\Programme\SageTV\SageTV\wiz.bin" >nul
pkzip25 -add -attributes=all -rec -dir=current c:\Backups\sage_config.zip "C:\Programme\SageTV\SageTV\sage.properties" >nul
pkzip25 -add -attributes=all -rec -dir=current c:\Backups\sage_config.zip "C:\Programme\SageTV\SageTV\sage.properties.autobackup" >nul
pkzip25 -add -attributes=all -rec -dir=current c:\Backups\sage_config.zip "C:\Programme\SageTV\SageTV\clients\*.*" >nul

net start "SageTV" 5
"c:\Programme\SageTV\SageTV\SageTV.exe"
my "c:\backups\" folder is daily backuped with acronis so it works fine!
What is your opinion to this solution??
thanks for your help!

If this works for you then it is fine. I personally find it a bit invasive and don't like to ever shut down my service if I don't have to. I just tested my batch file earlier and it still works fine for me. If you want help with mine I am glad to do so otherwise enjoy the other solution. Either way is fine with me

every time I think I get things set up the way I want it something throws a wrench in the works. I completely forgot about the .properties files not updating when Sage is running. Guess I need to schedule a .bat to restart the Sage service once in awhile so Acronis can capture those files properly.

Here it is:

If I had to guess I'd say your
Code:
set sagefolder=\Programme\SageTV\
line is probably wrong
It is most likely should be
Code:
set sagefolder=\Programme\SageTV\SageTV\
Also make sure you extract the bat and fciv files into the same folder that contains the wiz.bak file (same folder as "sagefolder=')

i think it works now

Hi ToxMox,

thanks for your hint!
i think it works now!

i changed the batch to another "sageTV" folder and copied the "fciv.exe" in there.
the batch file is saved in my batch folder outside but this should not matter.

at the next test a wiz.bat file is copied to my backupfolder (called wiz.bak.1)
looks good or should there copied mire files than wiz.bak?

If you've run the script 3 days in a row you should have 3 files in your backup directory. wiz.bak.1 wiz.bak.2 wiz.bak.3
If you are asking why the batch file doesn't back up any other files it is because to me the only really important file to lose is the wiz.bin. Properties are just your customized settings and can be recreated. Wiz.bin contains all your favorites info and all the info for your recordings and watched history.

I don't understand your error message you will need to translate it to english please. I'm guessing it says file not found. Please post the latest copy of your batch file. How are you running the batch file? Manually from a command prompt or from something else? Where are you getting your logs that you are posting. I see the window says svchost.exe. I can' t really trouble shoot the problem unless I see every step of the output when the batch is run from the cmd.exe. The way you are running it I don't see any of the steps. The output should look more like this:
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV>toxwizbak.bat

C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV>rem@echo off
'rem@echo' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

If you try to redirect the output of the batch in any way it will give you the errors that you see in your log. Like if you ran the command like:
toxwizbak.bat > output.log
it would then mess up the batch. Perhaps that is what you did for the purposes of your post.
If you want to be able to back up the properties file feel free to duplicate the batch file and modify it to do the properties instead. Perhaps if I have time I'll make it include the properties file but I don't have time right now.
