Also by using the Android devices Instead of Comcast Boxes I get Plex Netflix Kodi ... Cable Tv all in one appliance

Thank you. This is very exciting to me as I've known for a while that I was going to loose the ability to record cable. I see lots of possibilities and options to roll it out on my home network right next to my Sage implementation. They will compliment each other nicely for now. Time to do some marathon reading on the SD forums. (grin)

Thanks,
If your cable company does not set the copy flag you can use the 2250 to tune digital channels. My cable company went all digital and I use both the HDHR and the 2250.

I'm a former Cox video subscriber. We ditched the video when they rolled out the miniboxes and are solely OTA and online video. We had SlingTV for a handful of months but we weren't even watching that so we canceled. Will probably add it again in the fall for ESPN football.

Thank you. I saw the Kickstarter for the Homerun DVR a while ago and I saw you could purchase it for $60 on their website but I have not heard any feedback on it. It also was not clear to me if they have DRM approval yet but seems like they are still trying to get it? Appreciate the recommendation.

Hey. I also have Cox. Premium channels all have flags on them now
I use Sage with a Hauppauge HD PVR. Only one recording per Cox set-top or mini box / Hauppauge device.
If you want multiple tuners/recordings in a single device via Cox, have you ever considered TiVo?

Hi, you mention you you have it running on a NAS. I have a Lenovo ix4-30d and a couple older Netgear NASes. I guess I did not realize you could run something like Homerun DVR on a NAS. Also, just ran across Kidi but what is Plex? Also, not really familiar with the Nexus Players. Where can I read up on them. Wealth of information in a few sentences. Thanks,

Considered but trying to avoid additional monthly fees. I may go the Homerun route for a while but probably will drop cable and go just OTA and internet after a while. Hopefully the revival of SageTV as open source may inspire some people to write interfaces to some of the cable channel websites.

Nexus Player.
https://www.google.com/nexus/player/

I am not sure if they support legacy (older) nas's I have a legacy netgear nas I could test on. I currently run it on WD Mycloud DL2100.... but it runs on all mycloud nases including single drive ones. Also QNAP practically any current Nas.

NAS Requirements:
* x86 or ARM based CPU.
* 256MB RAM minimum.
* Must be running Linux.
* Must support SSH access.

see this thread I started.

You can buy a six-tuner Tivo Roamio for $600 I believe, and that comes with 'Lifetime' service, aka no monthly fees. Beware that Tivo is rumored to be up for sale, but that would not likely effect service for at least 4-7 years out.
I have both Sage and a Roamio, and if you don't want to archive programs, the Tivo is the most elegant, rugged, and easy to use system I've ever encountered. Plus, they can work with antennas as well, OTA.
I found a used, Tivo HD at a thrift shop, WITH Lifetime service, for $15.
Keep your eyes peeled...

I did see something about getting SSH running on the Lenovo. These are the specs, not terribly impressive but it gets the job done for me.

Processor: Marvell MV78230 dual-core ARMv7 SoC @ 1.3 GHz
RAM: 512 MB DDR3

Thanks for the link.

For what? The HD-PVR? If so, check out a set of instructions I did when they first came out. The thread is old as dirt, but the insturctions should still work. It's likely that you need to download the three ir related files/progams from hauppauge.

HVR1600.

Im unable to locate the Cox MB as a choice in the blaster setup (perhaps another works?) and the learning function wont detect the remote either.

From above, appears someone may have been able to get the blaster to send the right codes.

Thx.

Gotcha. Unfortunately i was never successful at getting the Hauppauge remote to actually "learn" anything. If they haven't updated their ir files overtime, that could be a real issue. I would recommend trying other, similar remotes. I know I had to use another Dish Network ir file because they didn't have my exact device, but it worked fine.

If the new STB is not using an IR codeset that is included in the Hauppauge drivers, then you cannot control it with it, and will need a different blaster. The USB-UIRT is very good, can learn from your STBs remote, and is well supported in sagetv.

Dropped Cox, now just OTA. Using Amazon VOD for the couple cable shows I don't want to miss.

Thats what I was afraid of....maybe i should ditch the Cox MB.

Anyone happen know offhand if any of the Cox boxes can be controlled by the Hauppauge blaster? Don't need an HD box obviously.
