KryptoNyte, you've saved my a ton of time! Thanks. It is working perfectly now. And yes, in Windows 10 the Firewall is under Windows Defender.

Now to subscribe to the premium channels!

That's great. I'm hoping someone would stop in at some point and let us know exactly which items should be allowed through the Windows Firewall - I'm not clear on that.

The installer does create exceptions in the firewall, but clearly it's no longer working for newer operating systems. nyplayer has a good list and that's what I would recommend. The installer opens appropriate ports, but it looks like that's not enough anymore.

Apparently I'm pretty good at screwing things up. I was trying to rename my tuners (vanity only) and now I've lost my premium setup. I've tried going through the setup process again and while it "finds the channels", they don't link up with the program guide (no channel number with them). While I can select the channels in the line-up, nothing works. So I tried setting it up on a second PC that never had Sage on it before. My regular HDHR tuners are a breeze to set up. The Quatro doesn't work for premium channels with Sage and OpenDCT. The HDHR software creates a SCN file that doesn't have any useful information in it. I'm thinking that is my problem.

I've attached my OpenDCT and SageTV logs. I'm ready to give up.

So after deleting the OpenDCT version of the HDHR Premium TV tuner from the SageTV tuner list, then re-adding it and re-selecting the correct lineup, I would recommend that you do not perform a channel scan for that service - there should be no reason to run a scan, all the available Premium TV channels should just work ... unless the Java/OpenDCT versions (32 vs. 64 bit) are not aligned. On your other system, whatever that may be, make sure that you have a valid h.264 renderer selected.

It's probably worth noting that the correct OpenDCT tuner selection in SageTV for the HDHR Premium device does NOT have the word "SiliconDust" in the tuner name, which should distinguish it from the OpenDCT version of that tuner.

I've tried both doing and not doing a channel scan. I have the 32 bit versions of both OpenDCT and Java installed. I've made sure Windows firewall isn't interfering both by making sure the correct entries are in the list and by actually turning it off. Before when I was having problems I could see that OpenDCT was controlling the tuner. Now it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

The tuner name is "HDHomeRun HDHR5-4US Tuner 1073439B-1 on 127.0.0.1:9000" and "HDHomeRun HDHR5-4US Tuner 1073439B-2 on 127.0.0.1:9000", etc.

You're no longer dropping packets according to the log, but it looks like that's just because OpenDCT is using http again. Double-check that hdhr.allow_http_tuning is still set to false.

The log is really interesting. Commands that should work without issue are failing on the HDHomeRuns. e.g.

Code:
17:21:24.645 [SageTVRequestHandler-185:HDHomeRun HDHR5-4US Tuner 1073439B-0 Digital TV Tuner] DEBUG HDHomeRunControl - key: '/tuner0/vchannel' value: '8.1' lockKey: '1062731766' sendLength: 39 address: 192.168.0.254
17:21:24.649 [SageTVRequestHandler-185:HDHomeRun HDHR5-4US Tuner 1073439B-0 Digital TV Tuner] ERROR HDHRNativeCaptureDevice - Unable to set virtual channel on HDHomeRun capture device because the command did not work => opendct.tuning.hdhomerun.GetSetException: ERROR: invalid virtual channel
To be honest, renaming the devices shouldn't have caused this much trouble. Some other things appear to have happened is channels are not mapped to ATSC channels. e.g.

Code:
17:23:40.942 [SageTVRequestHandler-369:HDHomeRun HDHR5-4US Tuner 1073439B-0] ERROR HDHRNativeCaptureDevice - The channel '1755' does not have a frequency on the lineup 'atsc_hdhomerun_1073439b'.
1755 is not an ATSC channel. We've got a few problems. The first thing I would do is power-cycle the HDHomeRuns, then restart OpenDCT.

So I did the power cycle along with restarting OpenDCT. I had high hopes since I had not power cycled it previously. No help at all. Then I thought maybe it is a problem with the Quatro not having a fixed IP address. I assigned it in my router and even after two power cycles it is not picking up the new address.

I've also done this on 3 separate PCs now, installing a new Sage server on each one, making sure I have the 32 bit versions of Open DCT and Java and the firewall was properly configured (even turned off). I get the exact same results. Channel scans always come back showing 45 channels, but no channel numbers associated with them.

It does appear to be a problem with the mapping.

I also set up a Plex server and it works flawlessly with the Quatro.

The strange thing is it was working great until I tried to change the names.

I didn't see this until late yesterday. It was set to true. Changing it to false didn't help.

At this point I am at a complete loss as to what I should do next. I've tried setting it up on multiple machines and I see the same results. Are there some generic properties files (OpenDCT.properties, the properties files under \config\lineup, the resulting entries in SageTV.properties). At least I would be able to look for differences.

Thanks for the help.

Wayne

Before doing anything else, check in the Sage.properties file on the server that this is set to TRUE;
encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream

Then test and see if that fixes it.

----------------------------------------------

With the issue on multiple machines, I'm thinking it's more global. On the target SageTV server, go to the webpage;

http://my.hdhomerun.com/

Click on the Quatro device that it finds. On that next webpage where it shows the channel list, click on the pulldown at the top and select CableTV and then run a channel scan (or detect channels, whatever that button says). Verify on that same webpage that all Premium TV channels are enabled (or rather, not disabled - the little icon to the left of each channel should be a gray star as I recall = enabled, you can toggle it to see the different options).

Verify that you have installed the HDHR Windows software from their website.
https://www.silicondust.com/support/downloads/
I downloaded the generic Windows installer (the 4th one down in the list) even in Windows 10 and when running the setup, I make sure that it is set to "SageTV." I'm not sure this is required any more, but probably worth doing if it isn't working. You can also run a channel scan in this software with identical results as the webpage scan.

Verify that you can watch live TV using HDHR's own viewer. Note that you may need to have VLC media player installed to get video playing properly in the HDHR viewer.

Remove the Quatro tuner from SageTV's tuner list in the Sage UI, and shutdown the Sage service as well as the OpenDCT service. Uninstall OpenDCT and delete all its directories, including the OpenDCT directory in the hidden directory on the root C-drive called "Programdata."

Start the installation process from scratch using the original instructions post earlier in this thread for Premium TV on the Connect tuners. Do not scan for Premium TV channels in Sage when adding the tuner.

KryptoNyte, thanks for all of the suggestions. Unfortunately, still no go.

FYI, encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream was false and at http://my.hdhomerun.com/ the little icon to the left of each channel was yellow. I clicked each once twice to make them grey (first click made it a red X).

The HDHR software does work as does VLC. I will try it all on another PC to see if that makes any difference. I do agree, it seem to be something global.

Thanks for hanging in there with me (I really want this to work).

Wayne

Post an OpenDCT and SageTV log each time you make a clean attempt at this. That log at first run would be quite helpful.

I checked and it was set to true. I changed it back to false and it didn't help. The recordings are still very pixelated. Log attached.

I retried it all again, no luck.

I noticed that when I run the channel scan from the HDHR setup, it creates 4 files in the SageTV directory titled Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1073439B-0-0-QAM.scn to Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1073439B-3-0-QAM.scn. Each of these files only contains "# Generated by HDHomeRun Setup".

I then went through the sagetv.properties file and changed the mmc/encoders/XXXXXXX/encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream=true for each tuner. Still no luck, and that is the 2nd log file attached.
