Yes, I am using the latest ATI drivers & Java. I am using overlay and 3d acel is disabled.
I have BTV installed (but not running). I am not ready to uninstall it yet  I have tried the WinDVD 6, Sonic and Hauppuage decoders. I have reimaged my drive and will try again tonight. Thanks, Nate

My 2 cents. Could not use any of the new custimazations (malDude). Kept locking up. Had to relod the old .stv. Then I switched from background video menus to PIP (windowed) video and no problems. I guess when I would scroll on menu screens the video could not keep up. May help with your problem also.
