I agree. I think it would be great if it was all hosted at bintray. I'm sure this is all temporary until a working installer is created for Windows.

Yes, thanks for some of those links; also saves me looking for them again. I'll probably move a few posts from the middle of discussions to their own new sticky topics for the time being too.

Also see my signature for a mini-guide of sorts. It includes everything mentioned here with a little more detail I think.

But as the FAQ is geared for the people who are new to sage, and as such have no key to apply, valid enough. Except they have no need to edit the registry as they have no valid key for EPG services.(And will need to be directed to a EPG data service provider that works on SageTV instead) Although there might be grounds for two sets of instructions for upgrading/installing being posted. One for the people who have keys for the old commercial version, and another set for new users. |

Quick Question for folks is the newer V9 of Sage TV Stable as I was using it and had to uninstall sage TV and reinstall V7 due to V9 no longer would open when I clicked the icon.
It may have been due to me updating Java the day before without shutting down sage tv before the update but I was not sure. I thought I would ask since last I saw Narflex said it was still beta and may still cause problems last I read. Thanks for the exact writeup on how to update as well and I assume many folks are using V9 now since when I reinstalled Sage TV V7 I had no problems getting the guide data like I used to in the past |

Perhaps I've not searched extensively enough. . ..but is the source code hosted online yet? I can get the setup done easily enough to move to new, but I wanna write some code :P (and thanks for the API docs link!!).

YMMV, 9.0.0.3 itself has been stable for me after it finished a weird settling in phase of about 12 hours after updating from version 7 to version 9.

Using some of the info posted above, I finally added the FAQ for: How do I install the open source version of SageTV on Windows?
Anyone see problems with it? For Linux users: are the steps really any different? Thanks. Andy

Are all of these also required for upgrading a client pc (the server is already V9)? .

Yes, the client needs pretty much the same thing. There's actually not much difference between a client install and a server install.

Also in the event of clients that are being upgraded from an existing install and licensed under SageTV7, the exe's don't need to be swapped as of yet. (Which is the case with the server as well come to think of it in regards to exe files) |

Can I suggest that the FAQ suggest discuss SageTV extenders and other types of potential clients for SageTV, like Android.
Also mention whether the OS version of Sage will ever be able to run on HDX00 extenders.

Can you currently use an HD200 or HD300 to connect to a Sage V9 server? I don't think you can. That will make it hard for me to move to V9 as I have 9 extenders to replace.
I would also add something like (assuming that this is correct): SageTV is currently being actively developed for Linux, Windows and Android. Once it is a little more mature it is expected that SageTV will also be ported to run on OSX and non-Intel Linux platforms like the Raspberry Pi.
