You still do not say if you have tried it with the firewall off.

also post your prime.properties and your sage.properties.

Yes I did, I had it in the title of the post by mistake. Regardless I had the firewall off and double checked that after reading the threads on this forum.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -jar PrimeNetEncoder.jar

>>post your batchfile ....

Not using a batchfile yet, just started the console from a command window.

>>and contents of the primeencoder directory.

Not sure what you meant, the actual files or a listing?

All I have in primeencoder is the files from your zip, plus ffmpeg.exe, plus 4 log files that were created after running the app.

I was planning to automate with a batchfile after I confirmed it was working.

Also if you are running prime in the same PC as sagetv it is easier to set the ip to 127.0.0.1 in sage properties.

That is all I can help you with till you either run it as a runnable or batch file.

PS this is probably my last task here because I will be at the US Open golf tournament next week (As a spectator) starting Sunday.... and after that I will be devoting my time to the HDHOMERUN DVR.

Need some help

So, I installed the Prime Network Encoder software a few days ago and I'm having a problem that I need some help with. The basic issue is that only one of my two HDHomeRun Prime devices (13172504) is working properly and the other (131B5F1E) doesn't work at all. Prior to the recent firmware update fiasco, both devices were working well with SageDCT software. I'm sure that I've made a configuration mistake that I'm overlooking.

In terms of my install and configuration, I'm running the latest builds of Java 8 and FFMPEG on Windows 7 64-bit, the Windows firewall is turned off, and I'm running PrimeNetEncoder as a runnable class.

I've attached my Sage.properties file, my PrimeNetEncoder properties file, and a representative tuner log from each device. As you can see, the 13172504 device is recording shows with no issues whereas the 131B5F1E device continually stops and starts (without actually recording anything). I really appreciate any help that folks are able to provide.

Your tuners are wrong the prime does not have tuners 3 4 5 ... The primes always have tuners 0,1,2

Wrong

tuner3.name=HDHomeRun Prime Tuner 131B5F1E-0
tuner3.port=7003
tuner3.enabled=True
tuner3.id=13172504
tuner3.number=3

tuner4.name=HDHomeRun Prime Tuner 131B5F1E-1
tuner4.port=7004
tuner4.id=131B5F1E
tuner4.number=4

tuner5.id=131B5F1E
tuner5.number=5
tuner5.name=HDHomeRun Prime Tuner 131B5F1E-2
tuner5.port=7005

should be

tuner3.name=HDHomeRun Prime Tuner 131B5F1E-0
tuner3.port=7003
tuner3.enabled=True
tuner3.id=13172504
tuner3.number=0

tuner4.name=HDHomeRun Prime Tuner 131B5F1E-1
tuner4.port=7004
tuner4.id=131B5F1E
tuner4.number=1

tuner5.id=131B5F1E
tuner5.number=2
tuner5.name=HDHomeRun Prime Tuner 131B5F1E-2
tuner5.port=7005

I also see that I mislabeled "tuner3.id" as 13172504. I'll fix these mistakes right now. Thanks!

I'm still learning, but it appears there is a mismatch between the tuner IDs in the 1st and 4th lines. Looking at the properties file should the 4th line not be

tuner3.id=131B5F1E

Have fun at the Open!

Cable music stations issue

Hi everyone,

One thing I'm experiencing with PrimeNetEncoder is that the cable music stations signal (I'm on Comcast) is quite erratic. These have often take a bit longer to tune in to, but once tuned in the past (with SageDCT) there is no issue.

Now, it will tune in after the usual pause, but the audio/visual will cut out after ~20 seconds. I remember troubleshooting a similar issue with my Kodi/WMCserver setup which involved timeouts waiting for the signal (I can't find the exact thread now).

Anyone else with this experience?

I just ran through my music channels. Looks like most of them are working within SageTV, but a few of them aren't working at all. However, I was able to successfully tune the non-working music channels using the "HDHomeRun VIEW" application instead of SageTV. Interesting...

Thanks for checking.

Did you let a station play for 5 minutes or so? It sometimes doesn't show for me until a ways in.

Video Sources are growing

I just looked at my config for "Video Sources", and realize that I have 308 tuners now. It increased by 9 while I had the window open. All but 5 are related to PrimeNetEncoder (3 Sage-DCT and 2 SD Dual).

Does anyone have any ideas about what is going wrong?

I believe that has something to do with the prime sage properties files ... I had made some changes in mine and I do do get duplicate tuners. You can delete your prime coder settings in sageproperties and replace with corrected ones below. I am not sure of the top of my head what I did... but if you want you can compare them.

Code:

@Waylo - Yes, I let the "bad" music channels play for 10 minutes or so each. SageTV eventually starts throwing "halt detected in recording" error messages for these channels. The "good" music channels start playing music within 20 seconds or so. Regular TV channels tune within about six seconds. Strange...

Ok, I'll try 127.0.0.1 and the batch file. I've got SageDCT working but I like the idea of running from the console with prime, plus the fact that ffmpeg is decoupled.

Have fun at Chambers, the course looks awesome on TV.

When you were getting no signal did you have the SAGEDCT service disable? I found that if you have sagedct enable and the service starts it ties up the tuners.

Ps I will almost all packed.... Chambers Not too far from where I am in Portland OR.

Yes, that's similar to my experience. I think the music channels (not all apparently) are somehow handled or broadcast differently by either the Cablecard or Comcast. The audio starts and then a few seconds later the video image pops up.

SageDCT didn't show a problem except it would sometimes take an extra several seconds to tune in.

A small inconvenience and quirk which I hope can eventually be worked out, not to take away from the pluses of PrimeNetEncoder.
