I love that someone is developing for this but I am having difficulty with PrimeEncoder.

I have everything configured and running however when I try to tune a channel I get "No Signal"

the homerun config GUI shows the tuner is tuned to the channel and passing data but "No Signal".

If I click on "View" in the HomeRun config GUI it pops up VLC which shows an error. Suddenly I have picture for a minute or so then it stops and the data transfer rate show in the homerun config GUI goes to 0 ?!

So far no joy. Any help would be appreciate.

FYI, this update to myhomerun happened when I installed the new software to get a second cable card configured after my cable company re-arranged everything and required them. I loaded the homerun app, it said "Discovering tuners" then "Upgrading Firmware" no prompts, options or anything. :/

EDIT:

after reading about running it interactively instead of as a class I tried that and am getting picture?! So if my box reboots im screwed hehe

Until you get it to play in the hdhomerun software there is nothing that can be done ... You could try unplugging the power for about 30 seconds ... count it down because 30 seconds seems short unless you do.... and if that still does not work trying turning off the firewall and try again.

OH it plays fine in the homerun software just not with prime encoder running at the same time and I have a channel trying to tune to it.

As I said in my update though when I run it from command line it seems to be working

Did you read the doc and setup the firewall ports and did you allow ffmpeg.exe through the firewall. ... if not try it without the firewall. If that does not work post your prime properties and sage properties.

Why would the firewall even enter in to it if it works from command line, just not from the launch line in sage.properties?

Did you follow the instructions copied properties ffmpeg over to sagetv?
Is your runnable line in sage correct. Something has to be wrong. Either you did not copy everything over or the runnable line is wrong.

PS you are not screwed you can setup in windows scheduler to run the batchfile at startup even if user is not logged on that is the way I run it.

see my post here.

Yes I followed the directions completely. I can see the tuner is tuning the channel I just get "No Signal" in Sage. However if I run it from command line I get picture.

What I meant when I said I was getting an error with the "View" command in teh homerun GUI was that I had the "No signal" on the sage window, clicked View and saw the error in VLC and suddenly I had picture for a minute or so before it stopped.

Have you tried it with the firewall off ... because when you copy ffmpeg to the Sage directory you have to allow that application through the firewall ... because it is in a different location... not being picky but I did ask you to try this.

Hrm.. when I ran it from command line I got a firewall prompt. I wonder if it will work now from the launch line....

Oops.. N/M I got the prompt because I copied the directory to the root of C for primeencoder and ran it out of there with ffmpeg

I have installed the EXE and configured per your jpg. The only change I made was to select DXVA-2.

The LAV filter does not show up in the list of available MPEG2 filters, but is displayed when All Filters is chosen. I set the MPEG2 Audio and Video to the LAV filter. Not sure what to do about the others.

Are you using XP? I notice your are using VMR9?
I'm on Vista. As I said, no real understanding of what I'm doing.
My other options are
Video render
Default Video render
Video Overlay Render
Enhanced Video Render (EVR)

Most TVs won't pass 5.1 from HDMI to optical. If you want 5.1 you need to either run HDMI or optical/coax to your AVR directly, not through your TV.
I checked my manual and I think it should.

The SPDIF (Sony Philips Digital InterFace) outputs an uncompressed digital audio signal when you connect the digital audio jack on the back of the TV to a digital audio in jack on a receiver or home theater.
Audio Format (PCM/Dolby Digital): You can select the Digital Audio output (SPDIF) format. The available Digital Audio output format may differ depending on the input source.
By connecting the TV to a receiver or home theater with Dolby Digital and 5.1ch speakers and selecting Dolby Digital, you can maximize your interactive 3D sound experience.
I see there are some options regarding digital audio in the LAV audio filter. I have then all on (??), and set the speakers to 5.1 in the second tab, but still no joy. When I choose DTS on the receiver I loose all sound.

For anyone who turned to this program from SageDCT due to the prime update but are having difficulty with this like I was Andy has posted a registry file update pertinent to the new firmware for homerun prime to allow SageDCT to work:

http://babgvant.com/forums/p/5505/23337.aspx#23337

Please do not misconstrue this as a negative commentary on PrimeEncoder. I think it is great folks are still developing for SageTV and hope to give this a try again in the future when it is more developed and polished and it will work for me like it has for others.

I am now running EVR. I had some initial issues with audio and video sync, and then start/stop like under SageDCT, but this was only once. Not sure if it's related.

I opened the logs this AM to see how things ran overnight.
  • I turned on the TV at (about) 7:08 to watch CBS this Morning on Tuner 0. I see an event at (about) this time on tuners 1 and 2 (7:08:36 and 7:08:32 respectively).
  • I noticed a video hiccup at 7:18(:09) which appears in the log for tuners 0 and 1 (7:18:08).
  • Tuner 2 ran over night from 6/11/2015 11:00 to 6/12/15 7:00 am with out a channel change. This tuner was the active tuner when I turned the TV off (SageTV was not stopped).
  • What's more interesting is if one follows tuner 1 back in time that there is a channel event occurring about every 1:15 seconds starting at 06/11/2015 07:41:29. This behavior is also in tuner 2 logs starting at 06/09/2015 12:50:38 through 06/11/2015 08:56:36. I see some short channel changes on tuner 0, but nothing with the same pattern.
I have noticed that when the TV is off things seem to run better in general (even with SageDCT) and have wondered if there is some "2-way" related to HDCP that could be impacting things.

It's all just data. Not sure if any of you can turn it into information.

Your port is wrong in tuner 2. should be 5020. Check your primeencoder properties.... change it and restart.

I updated the PrimeNetEncoder.properties file in the download for version 1.0.1. I hope I finally got it right! . I also changed the default ffmpeg delay to 1000.

Welcome Back it appears that tuner0.enabled=0 should be tuner0.enabled=True ,tuner1.enabled=0 should be tuner1.enabled=True ,tuner2.enabled=0 should be tuner2.enabled=True

I think config is correct but getting zero size .ts file

I am running from the console, on the same PC as Sage Server.

HDHomeRun View shows picture fine.

I keep getting a .ts file with zero size. I have tried with transcoding on and transcoding off. I have double checked the configuration. Any idea what is happening?

The log file looks ok to me. Here it is.

Why is it when everyone is testing this they first do not try it with the firewall off. FFMPEG needs to have access through the firewall. Get it working with the firewall turned off then you know it is in fact the firewall. Besides Soccer was a 0-0 tie.

PS If I sound frustrated it is because I am ... I am willing to help but when users do not have signatures with no details not even what OS they are using ..this does not help. Heck I do not even use SageTV anymore as my main SERVER HTPC.
