Pretty sure most of the core logic is Java. I think the machine specific stuff is going to be in VC++, like the capture card interfaces, controlling directshow playback, etc. But all those functions are called from Java, and the entire process runs within a JVM.

This makes a nice 10th anniversary present. 10 years ago when I started running SageTV full time, it was just jumping into HD, a whole new life for the TV. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the project grows with the influence of the community on its core.
It almost takes away all the pain from the properties and wiz.bin corruption I just had two days ago.

I was happy for 3 Plus years also until the Cable company started copy protecting channels.

Combined with an antenna for OTA, and a colossus for protected, i rarely have conflicts.

I think I just became the fifth by mistake - I clicked on the Fork button as I though that is how you see forks. Woops!

You can navigate to your forked project, and delete it, if you choose.

Where do we download the Open Source Installers
I know some changes needed to be made to the the server and client. So will new files be released?

I have a bunch of questions, but perhaps it would be best for a new thread.
What happens if we upgrade over what we have? What new features were added (or removed) since the last commercial release? etc. |

Extender limit
Will there be a way to remove the extender restriction to the number of keys you have without reinstalling?

That should already be gone. It was removed from the code before it was posted. The only thing you need a key for with the OS SageTV will be to get EPG data. Of course the only thing available currently is the source code so no installers are available and you would have to compile it yourself. The source has been forked already so it is entirely possible that one or more forks will include an installer for that fork.

I don't think anyone who's forked it yet has any interest in maintaining a separate software. The forking is done to work and test independent of the master, and once alterations are ready, they are pulled back into the master. There is not yet a windows installer, though the source compiles fine on Linux. I believe at least 2 people here have already stated they are interested in making a new windows installer for SageTV v9.0.0 (the current version of the source code). It will take some time as only a few people on the forum here have ever seen this source code, and it's got 12+ years of development behind it.

What would really be nice is if someone could put together a "for dummies" guide on how to put all the pieces of source code together into a working installation (what Java development environment is needed to create the JAR files?, what C++ environment is needed to compile the C code?, how to configure these environments?, what are the output files that someone would need to distribute?, are there additional tasks that an installer would need to do (such as setting registry entries)?,...)

Linux Server with Windows Server key
If I went crazy and decided to move to a Linux server would my SageTV for Windows key work for EPG access?
The bigger question is would I be able to use my Ceton Cablecard tuner in Linux?
