Decoding multiple streams at once could be fairly cpu intensive, especially if the displayed video is full screen and/or you are using 3D Acceleration on the non-primary monitor. I had to play around with my settings to get it to work in multiple windows, but even on my secondary monitor, I got both windows to play OK on my dual 1.2Ghz Athlon MP that had 768MB RAM at the time. As noted above, less than 1 full cpu was in use at the time. I haven't messed w/multiple instances playihng simultaneiously in a while, so I don't remember the settings details.
