In the App, select "Configure" from the tripple dot menu (also called overflow menu), and then change the value for "Max Items to Load" to be something like 100. This option is somewhat misleading, since it all it does is limit the number of top level items, and once it is enabled you cannot page to get more data.

Something that I find more useful, is to create views that represent what i do most often on the mobile device (or on the TV for that matter). For example, rarely do I need "All TV", but rather what I want to see, "All Unwatched TV", and as such, I created a view that gets all tv shows, and then filters by the Watched status.

Likewise I do the samething for movies.

And lastly, if I need to jump to a particular TV show/episode or Movie, then I use the search and then select it from that list.

Here is my view for unwatched TV

Code:
<!DOCTYPE vfs SYSTEM "vfs.dtd">
<vfs>
       <views>
               <view name="phoenix.view.default.TV.unwatched" label="TV Shows (Unwatched)" flat="true">
                        <tag value="tv" />
                        <tag value="default"/>
                        <view-source name="phoenix.view.primary.recordedtv"/>
                        <view-source name="phoenix.view.primary.importedtv"/>

                        <filter by="watched" value="false"/>

                        <presentation level="1">
                                <group by="show">
                                        <option name="prune-single-item-groups" value="false"/>
                                </group>
                                <sort by="recentactivity">
                                        <option name="folders-first" value="false"/>
                                        <option name="sort-order" value="desc"/>
                                </sort>
                        </presentation>

                        <presentation level="2">
                                <sort by="originalairdate">
                                    <option name="sort-order" value="desc"/>
                            </sort>
                        </presentation>
                </view>
        </views>
</vfs>
You have to put this in a file, in the SAGEHOME/userdata/Phoenix/vfs/ directory and then re-load vfs cache (you can use bmt to do that under Refresh -> Reload configurations)

two things: is the only way to contribute (unlock) is via credit/debit, or is there a way to use Paypal....and...what does unlock do when accessed?
thanks

The good news for you... is that unlock does absolutely nothing... it's just a way to say "thanks". That being said, maybe in some future it might hold extras, but for now, it works exactly the same, unlocked or locked

Upgraded Phone - now can't transcode

I'm not sure what I'm missing here. I got a Galaxy S4 today, setup Phoenix for SageTV on it, setup MXPlayer and I can play files that aren't transcoded, but can't play any that are transcoded. Just get "SageTV did not create a stream URL"

I see an 'out' file created in the userdata folder. Not sure what I'm missing - had it working fine with my Droid 4.

Did you do the test connection to make sure that things pass the sanity checks? There are many posts here about setting up VLC (especially for windows)... So, I'd review those.

Also, transcoding will be a cpu intensive operation, especially if your files are HD. So, make sure your server is fast enough to be able to do this in real time.

The message that you getting is caused when the device (ie, you phone) times out waiting for a stream to be created on the server. Failing to create a stream could be the result of an underpowered server, VLC versions, etc.

Yes - all tests on phone show passed and everything was working with the Droid 4. I installed the app on the S4 and MPlayer and configured it to connect to my server. Everything else works fine - can browse shows and start them on the TV just can't stream to the phone except without transcoding. It doesn't seem to need transcoding locally (Droid 4 did fine but not on full HD shows without transcoding), but I was hoping to ultimately set it up so I can pull through the internet side - which will definitely require transcoding.

I've had this app happily running on my Samsung Galaxy 2 10" tab for a while. All the menus work fine and using mplayer it streams videos without issues. It's running 4.1.1.

I recently got an S3 phone, running 4.1.2. The app behaves fine except when I pull up any TV episode or video, I do not get the triple-dot menu in the upper right. Hence, no way to stream. The dots aren't there at all. Any ideas?

I reported this a while ago.

You should be able to stream directly from the list of shows, rather than selecting the specific show. (Long-press the show)

Streaming over 4G issue, Wi-Fi OK

I have Wi-fi working perfectly. So I'm assuming my configuration is somewhat right!

When I select my file to view, long press and select Watch on Device,is sits there with the circle saying "Checking" then times out.

Selecting "view on mobile wen states it cannot connect to the server.

I don't seem to be able to download either.

I have a new Samsung S4 on Verizon, if it matters.

Help an old guy figure this out! Please! Thanks!

If you are "Transcoding", then you'll need a very powerful server. Which options are you trying when you use the "Watch on Device"?

In the "Change Server" list, if you long press on your configured server, and use the Test Connection, does it report that everything is OK?

If you mean my Streaming Quality, I can't get that far on 4G. It sits there an spins stating that it is checking.

Test connections for wi-fi are ok, for 4G - no. It times out and does not report anything. i have about 3-4 bars on my phone of signal stregth, and can use other apps like Netflix with no issues and in HD. (I'm only stream SD from my SageTV server, as I only have 3 anolog tuners)

Would this be a bad time to ask about MXPlayer configuration?

On Wifi, I can play the video, but have no control other than pause. I can't FF or REW or even resume if I have to come back to a video.

That's all you'll ever be able to do.

wow, thats a major drawback.

If true, it really makes me wonder how such applications such as netflix can do this. Has to have some sort of softwae cookie or other means to know where you left off or allow FF & REW....

Netflix has 2000 employees that dedicate their lives to making a product. Netflix charges 7.99/month.

This product has 1 person, that does this in his spare time (along with Phoenix, BMT, Sagex-apis, and about 4 other non-sagetv related products). This app is free (with optional donate)

Hopefully that helps with the confusion as to why "netflix" could possible do something, and why I can't/won't

If the Test Connection fails on 3g, then it's most likely because the connection that you've configured isn't accessible when you are on 3g. ie, if you tell the connection to go to you local server's IP address, then on 3g, you won't be able to see that server. There are many posts about how to access sagetv from the internet... That would be the starting point for getting this to work on 3g.

Configuring MXPlayer should be as simple as installing it, and then choosing it when asked to play a video.
