Finally getting back to this. Sean helped me look at the error and we are trying some things. I sent a new plex.js file to 2 of you via email. Please try it out and email me the requested log.

I am still having issues figureing out why sagex is returning me an error in this case. the logging I added has not been providing the needed info. I need to talk to Sean again, and he has been on vacation.

Soon I hope. - Sorry for the delay

@PiX64 Any news on the fixing the outstanding issue some of us are having? Maybe, @Stuckless from the forums may be able offer help debugging the issue?

As mentioned previously They are all related i think to the same thing which is the sagex api returning a java exception when it really shouldn't be. This is what i need to talk to Sean about again. He is back soon I think and will discuss with him.

plex on samsung tv

anyone tried this on the free plex client on a samsung tv? I'm thinking of replacing my broken 300 with a samsung tv so I could at least watch recorded shows on it.

thanks

Should work fine. I haven't personally tested it though.

Scanner not finding the file in BMT.

Hi I'm getting this logging when I run the plex scanner from the command line.

*** Found File name = WheelofFortune-VenetianValentinesWeek-7936462-0.mpg, Starting to look for metedata.
****** Current file (WheelofFortune-VenetianValentinesWeek-7936462-0.mpg) was not found int BMT!

BMT appears to see the file, I did recently move my sage server to a new box, but kept my recordings on the old box to act as a file server. i.e. it's a networked path instead of the old drive letter.

Is there a way to get the metadata into BMT for all these files? I haven't been successful in finding a way to import/update it BMT.

Thanks
Dave

Hmmm - Ill have to ask @stuckless to chime in on that one. I am not certain if there is way to do what you are asking with BMT...

I ask again because it's been quite a while but when are you going to make the updated plex.js file public?

I've also noticed that in the latest version of Plex released the other day that the scanner seems to inconsistently pick up the watched status of SageTV recordings. The reason I noticed was the latest Plex automatically put any series with a watched status in my On Deck list.

I believe the watched status has been inconsistently working for a while I just didn't notice till now. I had some issues with some of the SageTV shows and ended up removing and re-adding it to Plex. It picked up the watched status of one of our shows and put the next episode in the On Deck list.

Since I never could get this plugin to work, it gave me a chance to try the latest Media Browser 3 for the last could of weeks.

To my surprise, Media Browser 3 is a very polished product. The transcoder's picture quality is very impressive at lower bit rates (such as 850kb/s). Also, IMO, it's menus and graphics just look nicer and display faster than PLEX (on both the Android client and the builtin Web Client).

The biggest problem I have with PLEX is it's very plugin/addon unfriendly. It reminds me of how we used to install and configure plugins for SageTV (circa 2006). Most of the PLEX plugins I've tried dont work correctly; requiring manually extracting zip files and possibly manually editing config files, etc.

Media Browser 3 allows you to install, uninstall, and configure plugins via GUI (similar to SageTV plugins). Even the 2 porn channel plugins I installed have an overall-polished look; and, all the channel videos I try , I can actually count on playing.

I have a feeling that Media Browser 3 is better suited for 3rd party API plugins; considering, there are already two LiveTV plugins created by 3rd party developers in a relative short while. I certainly would donate money for such a plugin.

I'm hoping someone who knows good at coding (and has a little bit of time to investigate feasibility of a Media Browser 3 API), would look into this. If so, maybe, we could start a separate thread.

Does Media Browser allow you to sync content to your devices like Plex? This is a huge selling point for us. I use this feature of Plex nearly every day to try to keep me from using my company's internet to watch my shows. It especially helps when I'm away from wifi so that I don't need to use my mobile data.

I'll answer myself. Media Browser currently does not have a sync feature but it is planned for a future version.

Media Browser 3 is terrible if you have Series spread across multiple drives does not Combine them Plex Does. Also Plex can handle series that are in 1 folder but Media Browser needs them in Series named folders. Which is not at all the way Sage Records.

Yeah, I guess I'm probably in the minority. I've personally never really liked the idea of having multiple copies of the same media on all my devices (just to compensate for lack of good broadband network access). Verizon 4g lte wireless these days is outstanding in my home/work/commute area; evening in the concrete building I work in. Most of the time the streaming media file doesnt even transcode.. full bitrate streaming copy. I do like to copy some files on my just-in-case portable 2tb drive when traveling.

While I agree that pure streaming is more convenient in most situations the reality is that we don't have unlimited cellular data and I'd prefer not to have to use my employer's internet for large amounts of personal data usage. Being able to use Plex to manage content synced to devices is, IMHO, a great solution.

Can this tool also be used to export metadata from Sage to Plex for files that are not SageTV recordings? I have other content, both movies and TV shows, that are imported into Sage. I have fixed the metadata in Sage but these files don't all get read into Plex properly since their filenames are not compliant with Plex's scanner syntax.

If that can't be done now? If not is this an easy change? What's the diff between files originally from Sage and imports as long as the metadata exists?

I was having an issue where the Plex coverart for new TV shows was not getting added even though BMT had scraped all the necessary images. I ignored it and just manually updated the Plex images for the occasional new show. Now I have a problem where Plex seems to do an automatic refresh of all the TV recordings on a regular basis and none of the coverart images are added. This is a major pain to fix manually. What would be causing Plex not to use the coverart that BMT is generating?

Edit: OK reading back a few pages I guess I seem to be having the same problem as others and need a new plex.js file whenever that is available.

using combo plex series scanner + sagetv bmt agent gets some recordings to show.

using both sage scanner + agent results in no recordings to show.

any ideas ?
