Just to confirm going back to 0.9.8.10 fixed the issue. It just finished up the scan after only about 10min.

I actually skipped 0.9.8.14 and went straight to .17. Apparently whatever change they made to FFMPEG screwed things up when scanning some HDHR recordings.

WOW!

nice detective work. Did you happen to submit a ticket to the plex team on it?

I made a post on the forums. Where do you submit an official ticket?

So I installed and configured tonight and when I hit the sagex server I get a good response with metadata. But then I add a folder in PMS and try to scan and nothing seems to happen - other than the spinning gear. And while I am scanning if I try to hit the Sagex server from a browser I get an error:

javax.script.ScriptException: sun.org.mozilla.javascript.internal.EcmaError: TypeError: Cannot call method "getAbsolutePath" of undefined (<Unknown source>#45) in <Unknown source> at line number 45
]]>

How do I troubleshoot - what logs can I post? Here is the top and bottom of the relevant part of the Plex Media Scanner.log - it seems to find the files but it doesn't seem to process them.

Code:

Eventually it looks like it did kind of work as when I browse the SageTV Shows that I have created it has show names and episodes. But it only has Fanart for two shows and it doesn't seem to have much in terms of metadata - like no descriptions for shows.

By the way - when I unzipped the zip file into the folders it create encrypted folders (these show up green in Windows Explorer) which I unencrypted.

Are you running the most recent PMS? if so read a few posts up in this thread. There is an issue with FFMpeg and the current version of PMS. revert to an older version and resetup... things should work then.

Yes, I probably have r7. So should I try r6? Is the js file the same or should that be replaced as well?

Oh sorry. I only upgraded it the other night when I was installed this scanner.

The current version appears to be Version 0.9.8.18.290-11b7fdd. So I will go back to 0.98.10.

Should I also delete the "SageTV Recordings" Library that I added and start again?

One question that I didn't see addressed in the docs (but then it isn't really a SageTV scanner issue) - I assume that you can add UNC paths, but you have to type them in yourself rather than selecting from the browser. Is that correct?

Yup just add uncle path directly. It'll work :-)

Thanks for sharing... I was having this issue (library update not completing) but downgrading to 0.9.8.10 seems to have fixed it. Just completed my scan in about 19min.

I had to poke around a bit to find an older version. If anyone else has issues, you can find archived installers here:

https://plexapp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us...General-Topics

I uninstalled the 'old' version (0.9.8.18) and installed the 'new' version (0.9.8.10) over the top. The configuration, library data, scanners, etc. were preserved.

I just upgraded to the latest version -- r7 and I am having a problem scanning.
I get the following error message.

Jan 15, 2014 12:18:45:464 [1076] ERROR - Error in Python: Running scanner:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\Documents and Settings\David\Local Settings\Application Data\Plex Media Server\Scanners\Series\SageTV Scanner.py", line 132, in Scan

ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: 'English'

Let me know if you want any other dumps.

I resolved this by finding the show with the offending metadata ('English' in the year field) by dumping the xml of my recorded shows using the web interface and doing a text search of the xml, and then fixing the metadata using complimentary metadata tools.

But time permitting, you should protect against bad metadata.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was having the scan abort because of FFMPEG errors in 0.9.8.18, saw your post and did the downgrade.

Edit.
I just downloaded the lastest public version for XP from plex -- 0.9.9.00.308-7e8496a -- and it appears to be working fine. YMMV
