I moved all the Dr Seuss files to another sage drive. Re-scanned in Sage so it would see the moved files. then I re-added the directory in plex. It seems like it found more items... (I could be wrong) but it is still spinning away. There are no more ERROR items in the scanner log. only a bunch of WARN...

Grrr.. I really want this to work!

Jim

EDIT:

I do see a bunch of these:

another question.. How does one enable an extra agent for scanning? I want to add CC support so I'm thinking of getting the subtitle file and I want plex to see it. To do that I have to enable the "Local media info" option or something like that.. There is no option to add that like there is if I setup the TVDB option.

Post some info about the file?

Post the log entries related to that file?

To help scanning continue, temporarily move that file to another folder?

Any thoughts??
I'm getting nothing from the plex forum..

I tried to run the show through the sage transcoder and it went nowhere!
Sage Also won't play the file. And show it as red in the time bar.
VLC plays the file just fine.
Handbrake was able to convert the file but it started about 5 minutes into the file.
Freemake also chokes on it and never stops analyzing..

I'm going to move this one file aside to see how many more are like this...

Jim

My bad, by info about the file, I meant the metadata via BMT (assuming that you're using the BMTAgent for scanning).

Sounds like it might be too corrupted for Sage/Plex to deal with?

I've found two other files so far that are causing the scanner to either never complete or keep retrying..

Is this a plex thing or a sage scanner thing?

Currently I'm transcoding the bad files with handbrake since the sage transcoder seems to puke with it!

Quick Question on the installation. Since the wiki instructions were written has plex changed their folder structure? The wiki does not reference the Resources folder, but when I open that folder there is a plugins folder with files and folders that are similiar to the ones included in the zip file. For me I am assuming I extract the contents of the zip file to this location (obviously the f drive is specific to my computer):

F:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources

Thanks,

Dan

Easiest thing to do is to click on the running plex app in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and select go to plugins folder, or show plugins, or something like that (can't remember the exact verbiage). From there you can extract the BMTAgent into that directory, and the scanner by going up a directory.... exactly as stated in the wiki i believe. Locations of plugins and scanners haven't changed with new versions of plex.

please let me know if that does it for you.

seems like small addition compared to the thousands and thousands of lines of code you have contributed plucky! but you are welcome. Brian helped out a ton with the python from a BMTAgent perspective.

glad you all are getting use out of it. My family certainly enjoys it :-)

Getting back to a bit of normality over here. Sorry for the delays, but well my kiddo comes first.

anyway,

where are you at with this were you able to get things working? If not then gimme a quick rundown of how much farther you got or where you left off so we can pick up from there. I read back through some of your posts, but I wanted to make sure that you hadn't made any further progress before debuging and getting you up and running. feel free to PM me as well.... I would like to keep the dialogue going on the thread though for others to reference.

Thanks,
Mike

anyway,

where are you at with this were you able to get things working? If not then gimme a quick rundown of how much farther you got or where you left off so we can pick up from there. I read back through some of your posts, but I wanted to make sure that you hadn't made any further progress before debuging and getting you up and running. feel free to PM me as well.... I would like to keep the dialogue going on the thread though for others to reference.

Thanks,
Mike
I've identified two recordings (so far) that cause the scanner to either sit in limbo or keep retrying... Clearly there is something broken with them. they play fine in VLC... But Sage converter chokes and handbrake mostly works except it misses half the show. Not a big deal as I can get those episodes else where.. but.. Do we want to try to make the scanner more
robust? I've gotten NOTHING from the plex forums..

Oh.. and I was wondering if there was a way to add another scanner to the list.. To get plex to recogizine a external subtitle file some "local Media assets" has to be enabled. There's no option with the sage scanner (or maybe the BMT scanner)

Thanks,

Jim
