Can anyone remember the original prices from the web store?
Sagetv Media Center (Server) $79.99? Sagetv Client $29.99? Placeshifter $29.99? HD300 Extender $149.99? Last edited by jorton; 08-14-2011 at 09:09 AM. |

I recall those same prices for the server, client, and extender (never paid attention to the placeshifter).
Here's a snapshot from archive.org of the main page on Dec 23, 2010 http://web.archive.org/web/201012230...://sagetv.com/

Just wanted to work out the total sales amounts based on the number people have indicated they would have bought. Thanks, J |

Assuming they have very many in stock, and assuming production has stopped, they will need to hold on to them for at least the warranty period of the recent sales (1 year). After that, yes though SHOULD be able to liquidate them. Now the client/server/placeshifter licenses, I see no reason they couldn't sell them at a reduced 'no-support, no-refunds' price.

why? unless its in the 10's of billions of $$$ Google wont care...
I guess if it is in the couple hundred $K range you might be able to find a disgruntled ex-sage employee who did not get their very own private island to break into Jeff's garage while he is off on his private Google Financed Island (GFI?) and steal the leftover HD-300's and some license's (licensees,licensi?)... wasn't Opus complaining that he didn't get his own private island? hmmm.... wonder where Opus lies on the Gruntled vs Disgruntled scale?

So things are pretty lop sided when you look at $'s,
As of August 15 at 6:00pm Pacific, 14 Sever Licenses (@ $79.95) for a total of $1,119.30 150 Client Licenses (@ $29.95) for a total of $4,492.50 320 HD300 Units (@ $149.95) for a total of $47,984.00 27 Placeshifter Licenses (@ $29.95) for a total of $808.65 Total $54,404.45 Pretty sure that even if we could buy them the wife factor would bring this down by about 40% for about $32,642.67 in possible sales. If the old Sagetv crew were feeling generous and the almighty Google allowed it maybe they could do another "exe" mod to make the clients serial number free and only miss out on $4500ish in sales. Users will still have to have a valid server license to use the serial number Clients. Then if there are any left, maybe a HD300 clearance sale down the road when the last officially purchased HD300 is out of warranty to cover some of the 320 units still wanted. If there aren't any surplus HD300s at the end of the warranty period the "free" Client licenses would probably help users to at least be able to build small HTPC's instead. Just thinking out loud... Of course if Sagoogle has something awesome up their sleaves, then totally just ignore what I said J Last edited by jorton; 08-15-2011 at 07:32 PM. |

At that point, the HD300 #s would drop even more. I put 2 in my vote, but if in 12 months I can get a quiet, low power HTPC with a BR drive for $300, I wouldn't buy any single function HD300's. Thats the thing about hardware, it gets obsolete the second its shipped. By next year, the HD400 would have been out. |

From the results to date, I can see a definite need for some client licenses to allow existing users that have invested heavily in their setups to add the last few clients then need to complete their solution. I don't think that we will ever see a HD300 clearance sale but additional client licenses would allow mini HTPC's to fill that void and only users with valid server licenses would be able to use them. For the record this poll is meant to only show the running total of client/server/placeshifter licenses and HDXXX units that people are needing to complete their systems and possibly come up with a solution that Sagetv/Google will entertain. I was just thinking about replacing a HD200 with a HD300 so my vote is 1 HD300. I just wanted to get the better HDMI port and speed. If that worked well I probably would have replaced my other 200's.

In case anyone thought the demand was over-inflated, a certain auction site is completely sold out of HD300s.

Yep, I've noticed that.. also points to the fact that really not many people are leaving sage.

More accurately, the people staying are producing more demand for HD300's than the people leaving can supply.

See-we played this wrong. We all should have said we were giving up on sage and we could have waited for all the HDxxx's to show up on eBay. Like fish in a barrel.

hehe... no, I'd have to leave some on the market, so you could see that they are still fetching a high price. That is what proves that the demand from people staying is still significantly greater than the numbers of people leaving.
