Right now there is no way to disable auto-skipping, that's something on the "to do" list.
For me it just plays through without skipping. Maybe there is a bug in the boxee box firmware, as I'm running the 1.2 software.

I'm not sure why that would be but I haven't really tried it out since upgrading to the 1.2 firmware so maybe that's it. I'll try it out on my Box later today. I know it's working on the PC client and I haven't seen anybody on the Boxee forums complaining about it not working anymore.

Turn the log level to "debug" and attach your logfile. Let me know if you need more detailed instructions on how to do that. Maybe your problem will help me figure out how to make the commercial skipping optional because I really dislike the automatic skipping.

Remembering where you left off

Hey Guys,

First of all thanks so much for your effort on the boxee box, it's help me quite a bit in completing my rooms. I had a question on how to get the boxee to remember where I left off on a TV episode. As of now I have to restart the TV show from the beginning everytime I watch it.

Is there a way to have the episode remember where I left off, if not, is this a limitation of boxee or the sage boxee channel?

Thanks!

That's exactly what I'm working on now. The latest version in svn is mostly working, once complete I'll upload it to the repository.

I having a little issue with my boxee app. I installed it per the instructions and its in my app library and I clicked on it and chose start the window came up and asked for my ip address and then login information -- thing is I put in the wrong password and it errored out. I then tried to go back in and fix and when I try and launch the sage app the screen flashes and never comes back with those dialog boxes. I uninstalled and reinstalled the sage boxee app, to no avail, the setting must be captured somewhere to cause it to cache it and now prevent me from logging in. Any help would be appreciated in fixing this.

Obviously it should not do that. If you accidentally put int he wrong credentials and the app can't connect to the server it's supposed to clear the settings.

Can you send me the debug log? To do that:

- Set the log level in Boxee to "debug" (It's in the system settings somewhere.)
- Try to run the app.
- From a browser go to http://boxeebox:8080. When the page comes up look in the middle section to the left and click on the link that says something along the lines of "Get latest log".

Thanks,

Tom

I did the same thing, and I'm having the same problem.

Debug on the SageTV launch, because I can't attach the file, and don't want to post the WHOLE thing:

Ug, it's because of a stupid error on my part. I'll get an update out in a day or two. I've been working on adding progress bars which has taken longer than expected.

I've been watching with interest, but haven't tried this yet.

Is there a "automated" process to know about updates within the Boxee app, or is this something I'd have to watch out for (here and the project page)?

Boxee checks for updates every time you launch an app, so as soon as there's a new version it will install it automatically for you.

That's definitely true for the version deployed by the developers to the public repository.

Since it's still in development, there are other steps to do if you want to get the very latest version from SVN, easier with Boxee on computers, a few extra steps for the Boxee Box.

I just uploaded the latest build to the repo so please try it out. Warning! This is my first time doing this, normally Slugger does the uploading.

Post here if problems.

I've got a sagetv client license, but I've been wanting to play with the boxee app, just to see how it works.

All I can say is WOW. The install was super simple. The sage app launched immediately. Playback actually seems better through the app than through using the sage client. (my pc is - 4gb ram, Q8300 proc, with a geforce 8800GTS)

It was super simple, and seems to work GREAT.

Edit - took some comments about comskip out. Automatically skips commercials and the timeline even shows the actual video time that will play (for example, watching Terra Nova now. The timeline goes to 43 minutes, so I know automatically that 17 minutes of commercials are autoskipped. I can actually see using this instead of the sage client. It may not be 100% in all aspects, but what it does, it does REALLY REALLY well.

A big thanks to all of you who worked on this.

WOW!

Glad it's working out for you. It's far from perfect but it is a viable playback solution. If you have any specific feature request, or find bugs, let us know.

Well, shoot, if you're gonna ask...

It'd be cool if Hulu could be accessed through Sage via playon.
And access to videos would be cool too.

But I'm not looking a gift horse in the eye. For what it is, it's great!

Both of those are available directly via Boxee's interface (though on the Box UPnP and thus PlayOn are a bit wonky on the current firmware) so it's not likely this functionality will be duplicated in the SageTV app on Boxee...

Sorry i have been quite for so long on this topic everyone!

When Tom and I first started discussing this concept, we both came to the same conclusion that Boxee already has content like hulu, etc integrated. And not just integrated but it does it much better than playon via sage could ever hope to {this is not to downplay or slight the amazing efforts of EP et al. that gave us the playon plugin}... For that fact it seemed redundant and unecessary to incorporate that feature into sage..

Yes, at this point it makes little sense to duplicate functionality already available in Boxee.
