Ditto. What's not working? When in doubt make sure you set the log level to "Debug" and then attach a logfile. To get the logfile go to (assuming you have not changed the Box network defaults): http://boxeebox:8080 then look for the link next to "Boxee logs" that says "Get latest".

app loads and runs fine.

can go to recordings and see list of all recordings just fine.

select a recording and tell it to play, get an error

Playback Error
The media source or file is not accessible.

Turned on log at debug level, thanks for explaining how to get it, that was going to be my next question.

Will send in a bit.

In the logs, look for this:

>>13:28:56.0442 T:2898258832 M:463450112 ERROR: CCifsDirectory::GetResource - failed to mount CIFS share, status[127][Key has expired]

If you get that, then try enabling guest access (read-only) on the shares.

However, I'm getting "The media source or file is not accessible" whenever I click on one of the items.

1) The permissions on all of the shares are Everyone/full control (this is in a Windows active directory domain, but I'm able to access these files in other non-Windows applications like via my Xoom)
2) They are in Sage as \\ServerName\Directory - which I thought from the directions was okay

Do they need to be in Sage as \\IPAddress\Directory? Do I need to map them in Boxee anyway? Did I miss a step?
I just looked a bit more at the code that translates the paths. In Setup->Boxee->UNC Mappings try putting in ServerName,xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where "ServerName" is your actual server name and the xxx's are the server's IP address.

Right. Try enabling "guest access" read-only on your shares. You may need to reboot Boxee (and/or the computer hosting the shares).

got ya.

I had setup my shares with guest access, but when I went looking it turns out I'd turned off the guest account.

Just turned it back on and rebooted boxee, and problem persists.

Sage is recording right now. When it's done I'll reboot server and see if that takes care of it.

thanks very much.

Keep us posted. It's definitely a bug that Boxee acknowledges and I have found the guest access as a work around for my shares on a WHS...

Was just recording a baseball game that family is watching live so went ahead and rebooted.

Also rebooted boxee again.

Still no dice.

Guest account enabled.

All 3 shares have guest account with Read access (I assume that's all that's needed?)

same error still pops up when trying to play. Seems to take a while before new log files are visible via boxee web access.

shift-reload to get the latest logs to show up from the web server.

What OS are the shares on?

Here's another log chunk.

Looks different now.

Plus, a question. Do I need to or should I do anything in boxee setup (outside of boxee sage app) to help get things working, mount shares or some such?

Right.

>>17:46:43.0239 T:2924800912 M:502665216 ERROR: CCifsDirectory::GetResource - failed to mount CIFS share, status[13][Permission denied], share[//192.168.167.13/sage-h]

Not sure but if there's any way to make those shares require as little security as possible, that's what's needed. But network shares is not my area of expertise by any means.

On the Boxee Box, can you go to the Home Screen, then Files>>Browse>>Network and select SMB and reach/play a file on any of those shares?

Also, there's a couple of sticky threads re: network shares here: http://forums.boxee.tv/forumdisplay.php?f=23

Might be worth perusing...

New Boxee Firmware (Beta) v1.2.1.20392

Please see http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=43692

This update requires a manual install via USB thumb drive.

And it looks like it might clear up some of the more annoying SMB issues...

Got it. works great now.

tried 3 changes at once, but I'm pretty sure it was this one thing.

Shares all had guest listed as okay to access, but directories that were shared listed "everyone" has having access privileges, but didn't list "guest".

Added guest to permissions list on the directories. I think that did it.

However, in my sometimes gunshot approach I also changed the sharing mode on the box to homegroup sharing, which I believe makes it a little more permissive and shared the directories through media center as well.

Thanks for all the help and the great app.

Sure hope google doesn't throw away the amazing resource that is the Sage developer and peer support community.

Darci,

Any chance this will help the issue we're seeing with live TV?
