Wasn't there also an issue if you have the recordings directory selected as a video import directory? Something about the mount failing because Boxee was trying to mount it twice?
Do you have the Sage recording directory also defined as a video source for Boxee? If you do try removing it.

IIRC I think it's also an issue if you add "sibling" folders, e.g.:
\\host\videos\tv \\host\videos\recordings \\host\videos\movies in my case, adding the "tv" or "movies" folder was all it took for the "recordings" folder to fail in the SageTV app because \\host\videos was already mounted.

I'm running the latest of everything...
yes it has been working with a hostname, and the folders i have mapped for media within boxee are also by hostname. I will remove my mappings in boxee and retry. Will |

Will, are you running Boxee on a PC client and a "real" boxee box?
I need to prepare myself incase I get into a pinch like you with all this Linux network protocall crap......... Bob E.

first of all - thanks to all the developers of this for their effort - it is great to see a extender-like solution is rising..
i also saw an interesting thread on the dvblogic forum about their V4 software release (currently in beta), as i use the v3 release with damian flynns addon for my current sagetv setup. this thread (http://www.dvblogic.com/phpBB3/viewt...p?f=52&t=14264) indicates that there will be a dvblogic client for the boxee-box to integrate a pvr-solution... Just 4 info

I can't say I've paid much attention to DVBLogic. Is it a front-end solution only or does it provide the back-end PVR functionality too?

The main thing DVBLink does is provide a virtual interface between the TV app (aka SageTV or MediaCenter) and the actual TV card. You install a server component where your TV cards are installed and then you install the client component on any machine where you want to watch TV, the client component installs virtual tuner drivers which can then be accessed by the local copy of MediaCenter (DVBLink is very much tied to MediaCenter but you don't have to use it with it), these virtual tuners then talk to the server over the network, in many ways it's a very similar concept to how the HDHR's work.

First of all, thank you very much to all the developers on this project!
I recently downloaded the Boxee software for a PC and I also purchased a Boxee Box. I'm having problems streaming my HD-PVR .TS files to both versions (using the SageTV app and just streaming a file over SMB). The video is a little sluggish and the audio is out of sync. The same clips play fine on the same PC using CyberLink PowerDVD Ultra (and VLC as well). The clips also play fine on my HD-100 and HD-200. The reason I am trying out the Boxee is the newest drivers for the HD-PVR (required for me to get 5.1 audio) cause a stutter in my HD-100 and HD-200. Those files play fine in VLC as well. Any advice on things I can look at on either the PC Boxee or the Boxee Box? |

I'm able to play all my 1080i/5.1 files on the boxee box over wireless but I haven't updated my hd-pvr drivers in quite awhile.
On the PC, boxee can be a real resouce pig, what are the specs (CPU and graphics card)?

Freaking awesome. I got my boxee boxes today and just finished setting one up. It took me a bit to get the network shares for my recordings sorted out on win7. I do have a couple of questions:
1. I turned off password protected sharing and allowed everyone read/write to the share. Is there better (more secure) way to setup the network shares? 2. Just to confirm - live tv is not available yet? Anyone have a list of features that are? 3. I snagged the version through boxee box repository. Is that the latest version? This really does rock. As is, I can finally finish my whole house setup and ditch cable. Thank you very much! |

2. I've been working on Live TV but it's nowhere near ready for prime time. The best way to see what is working is just to poke around and use the app. The only things that are not too obvious: - in the browser you must press "select" on a show (left pane) to get the episodes to load (right pane) -if you are in the browser and have an episode focused, pressing 'right" brings up a dialog that lets you choose the filters. 3. The repository does not have the latest. To get the latest you need to run the app as "test app". Look here for instructions on how to do that: http://developer.boxee.tv/App_Anatom...cation_Anatomy The latest source files for the app are stored in svn and you'll need something like tortoise to get them. If you're interested in going down this path let me know and I'll give more detailed instructions.

Server Specs: Vista Home Premium 64 bit, Triple Core 2.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT, HD-PVR 1.5.7 I also tried copying one of the TS files locally to the PC and same issues so I think that rules out network (gigabit) and perhaps the server HDD. When the PC Boxee is running the TS video, using the LAN, it's running at about 28% CPU, 150 MB RAM and 1 - 2% network utilization. I'm really more concerned that the Boxee Box isn't playing the files but maybe if I can figure it out on the PC it will work on the Box. What I would do in your shoes is post this in the Boxee Box Help sections of the Boxee forums. There's a guy there who is really good with deciphering encoding info and get you pointed in the right direction regarding the Box.
(The players in the Box and the software version are fairly different IIRC, based on the chip in the Box and the outdated software version for computers.)

Hi all,
I've been working on the How to Setup and Use documentation over at the wiki. Take a look and see if you have any general comments or feedback. I'm working on screenshots and fleshing some of the empty sections currently. http://code.google.com/p/sagetv-boxe...wToSetupAndUse

I scanned the wiki and have the following suggestions: Known issue with the software client: Channel logos will not display. This is a Boxee bug that will hopefulyl get fixed when they updaet the client software. SSL coming in next build. The code is already in svn.

Can I ask what output you have your set top box set to? I've got mine (Dish Network VIP211) set to 720p and am wondering if 1080i would do anything for me. |
