Does 2.6.0 just install over 2.5.0, i.e. all configuration settings are maintained?

Jim,

I typically uninstall SageDCT using Windows Add or Remove Programs and then reinstall it.

After reinstalling, all the settings are still there so you don't need to move anything back into the Properties file or mess with the firewall settings.

I strongly recommend registering on Andy's board, use the donate link on his home page (it's something like $5), and email him for access to version 2.70.

I would start with 2.60 as it is most stable. I was unable to use 2.70 because of overflow errors. Remember 2.70 is still in Beta.

I am using windows 8 with the latest Hd Homerun beta software.

I'm using Windows 8 Pro as well and the latest beta drivers from SD (20130413beta1) running on an I3 box.

SageDCT 2.70 has worked extremely well for me. Andy definately knows his stuff.

SageDCT buffers: RTP: 262144, Write: 9126
Intel NIC receive buffers: 2048, Transmit buffers: 1024

I've also reduced much of the overhead that VLC required (I'm still on Comcast and needed to use that option), and instead now use the "ffmpeg" capture option.

So instead of having 1 in 15 files not playing directly in SageTV, it's 1 in 50 or so -- that may be a coincidence but it's kept me from moving on to MS Media Center. For those shows that don't play directly, I play them separately in VLC.

I am going to try your settings exactly.See if that helps.

that didn't work..... Put back 2.60 works fine. I will stick to 2.60 I have sent Andy the errors.

Interesting. We have almost the same setup. I'm running a 1Gb Dlink router, Dlink hub/switch, 2 HDHomeruns, 1 Prime on its own card, an I3, Windows 8 Pro, etc.

Are you on Comcast?

Are you getting recording errors with 2.60? Like shows that won't play in SageTV but will in VLC? If so, how often? Just curious.

I am on Comcast and no I have yet to have a recording fail me on 2.60 as far as watching. I do not use VLC. I have a netgear 5 port gigabit switch. I have my 2 Hd homeruns hooked onto it and my Hd homerun prime. attached to a 1 gigabit intel PCIE card. All attached clients run through my other nic on the server. It is weird but that is what makes PC's so interesting (frustrating)...

PS if you are wondering why I tried 2.70 is because I wanted to beta test it and report back ( I like living on the PC Edge.).. to Andy.

I strongly recommend registering on Andy's board, use the donate link on his home page (it's something like $5), and email him for access to version 2.70.

Thanks, I wanted to go to 2.60 so that I can use the latest Prime firmware. I've suddenly lost my subscription premium channels on Windows Media Center so I wanted to make sure the Prime was updated before I start dealing with Comcast support.

Is this the best way to upgrade from V2.2 to Ver 2.6? Uninstall the previous version and then install the new version?

Thanks,
John

I have 2 HDHR Primes and have M cards installed in both of them. Once is activated successfully but has not populated a lineup yet.
The other one I got working at least through activation and a lineup. I can tune all the appropriate channels through the HDHR Prime Setups QuickTV app.

YAY! Ok, so I installed the latest version of SageDCT, and selected the 3 tuners on the Prime that has a lineup and created the proper files. Shut Down SageTV/Service and inserted the code at the bottom of my Sage.properties file. Rebooted and added the tuners, each one with a SageDCTxxx name. I then told it to make a copy of an existing lineup (since I have 2 HDPRVR's/STBs).

I rebooted just to make sure everything got set/saved. When I try to tune a channel in the tuner channel setup the tuner light comes on as it says it is initializing preview. Once that dialog goes away the signal is 100% but no video/audio and the tuner light is out on the HDHR Prime.

Oh, this is on WHS (not the new one) if that makes any difference. I checked and the SageDCT service is listed as started under services.

Any guesses?

I'm sure it is something I have set wrong in the SageDCT config, but still no joy. In looking at the logs I see a bunch of mumbo-jumbo but do see a "recording did not start" each time I try.
Whoever it was in one of the message that said it was easier to get going in SageTV than clear QAM was WRONG!

Make sure SAGEDCT has full access in the windows firewall.

I can set it up and it will tune the channels now, but won't create a file and it craps out (stops recording) with "The recording did not start".

I added the Replace path to reflect the drive/folder where the recordings are, but I don't think that made any difference. I still cannot find a file anywhere being created.
Also, it REALLY affects the SageTv UI. Spinning circle for up to a minute on almost any keypress within a screen with the exception of the cursor keys which usually work ok unless it navigates you out of the page you are on.

I think I may try deleting all the SageDCT stuff in SageTv and start over with SageDCT, creating new assignments.txt, etc.
I just wish there was a step by step guide on how to set it up for SageTV showing each and every option on each tab and why you do, or don't want something set and the proper values to enter.
The only things I've found really gloss over everything without going into the why's and why nots, etc.

I'm sure it's me, but I was never able to get SageDCT to record to my Buffalo NAS no matter what I did with Replace Path. I ended up leaving it blank. Changed Recording Directories to a native drive on my PC that's running the Sage service and it's been smooth sailing ever since. Using the VLC option as well.

I switched my recordings back to UNC paths about 2 weeks ago and have not had a problem recording with SAGEDCT to them. It is a mystery to me why it reacts different from user to user.

Having trouble installing/configuring SageDCT

Hi all

Have been a happy sage user for years, but Comcast shut down my clear QAM last week. I thought I was SOL until I stumbled upon this thread, and decided to get myself a HDHR Prime, cableCard to extend the Sage fun.

I managed to get channel previews working in the HDHR setup. I next downloaded and installed SageDCT 2.6 (x64) for my win7 x64 server. I can install SageDCT, but when I try to run the configureSageDCT.exe, I get an error with an Empty dialog box, and just an '!' in a triangle. Not very helpful

Does anyone know how to get around this? I really dont want to nuke the box if it can be avoided. I did reinstall sage/HDHR, but no joy.

I CAN run the SageDCT on another Win7x64 box on the network, and connect to the HDHR prime, and also generate the properties from that box, but I assume the SageDCT install and service will need to be running on the server.

Can anyone help guide me on how to resolve this?

Thanks,
Dan

Update: Just to verify that the HDHR Prime and cable card are working properly I went over to my main Windows 7 Machine and set up that HDHRPrime in Windows Media Center. Initially I was seeing symptoms similar to what I was getting on my WHS machine with SageTv/SageDCT, but after using the WMC Extras Cable Card "helper" it started working fine.
I recorded several shows last night on both stations that were in my old clear QAM setup and also others that I could not get on the HDHRPrime using the old pre cable card clear QAM setup.
All recorded flawlessly, so at least now I know that the HDHRPrime and Cable Card aren't the issue.

It has to be something within the SageDCT, file/path, or Firewall arena on the WHS machine. I sure wish that WMC's "helper" app had listed the changes it made while it performed its magic.

I'm sure it is possible, but can someone confirm they have it working on a 32 bit WHS machine. (old WHS, not the current version)
