Can you use Video On Demand (VOD) from Comcast with the HDHR Prime?

Thanks,
Greg

No. You cannot use VOD with any DCT.

Is there any way of allowing the service to auto start? I am still using 2.0. And for some time now SageDCT will not auto start. If it is suppossed to I have no erros and the user is my main Admin user with full rights which starts the service same as Sage. This is running on a 2008R2 Std. box.

Thanks babgvant.

The service is configured to automatically start when the box boots up. If that doesn't happen something is wrong. Send me a verbose log.

OK, rebooted the pc and the os started @ 14:12:22

Service control manager events listed @ 14:14:38:
----------
Event 7009
A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the SageDCT service to connect.
----------
Event 7000
The SageDCT service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
----------
nothing in the SageDCT log for this, but I didn't expect there to be.
This service strart's the same as SageTv with the admin user for my three servers. These were the events from the log file after I manually started the service:

2011/11/03 14:31:20.45 : SageDCT Service start
2011/11/03 14:31:20.94 : SageDCT Service complete start
2011/11/03 14:31:29.97 : SearchComplete

SageDCT is running on 2008R2 SP1 64bit and McAffee antivirus (enterprise) which was disabled for this test.

Sorry I missed the eventviewer events, my bad. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Skybolt

Check that the SSDP Discovery is set to auto start and that SageDCT is dependent on it. You can also try to set it to "Automatic (Delayed Start)" assuming that it will start when you do it manually.

Original settings:
SSDP Starts fine (was already automatic) and SageDCT (Automatic), HDHomeRun(Manual) and UPnP Discovery are dependencies.

New:
Setting SageDCT to "Automatic (Delayed Start)" worked, Thank you. I always forget that's an option, even when it stares me in the face.

Thanks again,
Skybolt

2.1.6

Feeling pretty good about this one. Thanks to everyone who helped sort out the flakiness in earlier builds.

Hmmm...
There is a way to do this with the "ping" command that should work on any Windows machine. I just can't find my script that did it!

Here is the command I found on a quick search, I think mine was like this:
PING 127.0.0.1 -n 6
for a 5 seconds delay. This way you can fine tune the timing with a single command.

Will SageDCT run on WindowsXP or is Windows 7 required? (I'm fairly certain it's Win7 only but I want to make sure.)

Thanks,

Tom

tmiranda, SageDCT works on XP. I have it working on WHS v1 which for all intents and purposes is XP. And, I believe phelme also has it working on XP. You need to do a couple of extra steps with Windows Firewall, such as add SageDCT and the ports manually.

I just upgraded from 2.1.4 to 2.1.7, and while PBDA seems to still be working fine, it seems like it takes 10x as long to tune to channel before a recording starts.

Is this due to the delay tuner start setting which has a default of 30 seconds? Previously my recording would start within only a couple seconds. Is it safe for me to lower this setting to 2 or 3 seconds? Just curious on why this setting is needed and why the default is so high.

So .ts files will be produced and not .mpg. Is that the only difference?

Is there a simple step-by-step guide for setting up a prime with sageDCT? I'm sorry if I completely missed something here.

I got Sage to recognize all prime tuners but I get no signal on every station. Do I have to unplug my firewire cable box tuner? After I added in the additional code to my sage.properties file that's not working now. I also have a regular HDHR on my network.

Edit: If I use HDHR QuickTV I get all the local channels but none of the HD ones I get via my firewire cable box. I guess another call to comcast is needed and then I can concentrate on Sage.
