I don't think there is one Schedules Direct base on XMLTV Import I'm not sure it works with that site.

To all stop jumping and up down just wait I'm sure they be more news and info

I want to thing that this is a good sign but the first thing I thought of is Meedio. Shutting down the store immediately is an extremely bad sign. Has anybody started scouring eBay for extenders yet?

A dedicated user base can keep guide data going indefinitey. TiVos were not supported in Canada until recently but for years there was a Canadian TiVo group that scraped data from xmltv.

Dont forget Gizmo5, another case where Google bought a company to kill it about a year later (and i couldnt see any benefit from it to Google Voice, at least not from the features it already had, maybe just changes under the hood?).

I really hope this is not the case with SageTV

Apparently SageTV is sending out e-mails to customers, I haven't gotten one yet, but I found a copy posted online. It's almost identical to the messages already posted, but it has this in it as well:

Although we will be shutting down the SageTV store, we will continue to support existing users. We'd also like to continue our dialog with the SageTV community by keeping the forum open for discussion.

We really appreciate everyone's support over the years, and we hope you'll stay tuned as we embark on new projects at Google.

While I wish things weren't changing, I've decided there's no point getting bent out of shape about this. I'm happy for the Sage principals, and hope for the best for continued support/enhancement of SageTV.

It's funny, I've been listening to some music via Meedio in my theater this evening. Even after all of this time, it's still my preferred UI for Music. I hope that I'll similarly be able to enjoy SageTV for years to come, no matter what happens.

SageTV

I'm afraid that SageTV will will not be free (after purchase) any longer. Will Google charge a subscription fee? and their support is terrible if not any.

I used to use ReplayTV and it was great and was bought out and then shutdown.

Then I switched to SageTV GREATER!!!

RIP SageTV

Will anyone be working on a EPG plugin so that we can continue to operate our systems despite what Google may do. EPG support is the only thing you really need. I operate on sagetv clients, so not having an extender is not important to me. Those without client licenses can load there placeshifters licenses on PCs. There are ways to stay away from DRM. An EPG plugin is the important need in the short run. Been using Sagetv since 2005, I really don't want to go to WMC.

Questions.

Does WMC support the USB-uirt?
Can one WMC act as a server and other WMC computers connect to it?
Is there a database in WMC like sagetv?

Does anyone know anything about gbpvr?

Well this is just about the worst news that I could have received. Great news for Sage though. Sucks if this is the end of Sage as we rely on it too much.

Wow!!! I was getting ready to replace my HD100 soon.
I'm going to try to sit still to see where this leads to...

Congrats to the entire SageTV team!

Congrats to Jeff, Dan, Mike & the rest of the Sage team.

I'm guessing that over the years as a small software company you've probably had more than a couple of "where is this going" moments. Very happy to see you guys get your (hopefully very large) payday.

Well deserved and definitely well earned. Looking forward to the magic now possible with Google's resources at your disposal.

P.S. the call for "developers" in the announcement was also promising.

"i have a bad feeling about this"

I don't see Google (the cloud company) supporting home servers (.i.e. 8TB Raid SageTV servers specifically).
I don't see Google supporting/enabling third party hardware (i.e. Hauppauge, MS etc).
I don't see Google supporting/enabling third party software (i.e. comskip, SA etc).

I do see SageTV only running on ChromeOS IPSTB boxes.
I do see Google adding a GTV Market for plugins supported by Ads or $$.

I do hope Google adds storage to the GTV IPSTB and that they allow IPSTB's to access each others recorded shows. (I really can't imagine why they'd buy SageTV if they don't do this.)

I'm afraid Google will want to store your shows on its servers. Like it is doing for music...possibly acting like Hulu (new com w/ no com skip) after you've watched the show once (with the local commercials).

I'm sure Google will track what you watch/record and find some way to make advertising money off you by supplying directed advertising to you.

I'd like to believe that Jeff would not be so happy if he knew his customers would be screwed. So I see some hope in that...but not much.

The announcement just came out in the last day or so that as of the end of July the guide data for ReplayTV from "home base" will cease to exist. I've still got 4 ReplayTV's recording analog SD backups of my network programs for the times that my SageTV's HD-PVR's and/or HDHomerun's miss/screw up an HD recording.

Looks like I'll have either find alternative guide data for my ReplayTV's (semi-easy for the 2 newer 5040's, and next to impossible for the older 2020 and 3030's) or finally retire them.

The only thing we will need EPG Service maybe some like www.schedulesdirect.org and tool like XMLTV Import or something better

I think Placeshifters should still work just not over internet ocen jeff shut down the server.

There is a way to GET epg data by using mc2xml and XMLTV Importer.

Am I correct in assuming that even without EPG, we will still be able to program manual time slot recording?

I'm really hoping for the best.. Sage is the only device I use in my house for media. As a matter of fact, the only thing hooked up to my TVs are extenders (and my sage server). I have also setup a system for my parents and they would be disappointed to go to back to a plain dvr

Trying my hardest to be optimistic:
Cant wait to see where this goes! I hope I can open my Google home page and see my upcoming recordings. I hope I can stream my videos/recordings from any web browser on any computer as easy as it is to check my gmail. I hope to see the little green sage logo in the Google market and have an android placeshifter.

In addition to everything noted already, I NEVER want to see ANY advertising of ANY KIND on the UI.

Best wishes to the Sage team.
