These "recordings" are definitely in a weird state. I can view them in recordings as long as I include archived recordings. But the Diamond info screen clearly isn't treating them as a normal recording recording, it isn't showing original aired date or sorting by it. Also, in BMT webUI, "Sage Recording" isn't checked and if I check it, save, close the tab in my browser, revisit bmt webui and find that item again "Sage Recording" still isn't checked. Also, I realized last night that I can't delete the files after watching, but I'm not sure that's related.

I'll produce a log, but I have one question. I don't have any new files. So I'm planning to do this:

- Move the TV-from-DVD files current causing problems out of the way.
- Shutdown Sage, Startup Sage. This should do a rescan and try and import.
- Go into the BMT webUI and generate a support bundle.

Will that work or will there be cruft around from the previous import of these files? Also, should I turn on SageTV's debug logging?

That should work... just make sure that you don't have any .properties lying around for those videos as well.

btw... I probably should have caught this earlier... but I'm pretty sure you cannot import a DVD (ie a VIDEO_TS folder) as a recording. It should be a regular video file.

Support bundle sent. I don't have .any properties files at all. I wasn't clear about the files them selves. The are from DVD originally, but each episode has been transcoded into MKV files and named "Show Name S##E##.mkv". This same workflow has worked with BMT auto-import for months.

Ok, so I owe you a big apology... The import is/was working, so is the set watched by folder.

I did determine that BMT’s web gui is not updating until the browser is closed and restarted... So I thought my changes were never taking effect by looking only at BMT’s web gui. If I had compared my actions to what was happening on the STV I would have known it was working, or if I restarted my browser...

fixed.

I figured out my problem:
At some point the following setting got changed
"Videos/Library Options/TV Recordings in Import Directories are:". It should be on "Recordings", it was on "Imports". I flipped it back to Recordings, did a batch update metadata on the files that were giving me problems, and everything is as it should be.

Sorry for the trouble.

well, *I'm* still having trouble :-(

I was watching this thread with interest, as I have been having the same issue. So imagine my dismay when everyone else got their problems resolved and I was left all alone in my misery ;-).

The resolutions the other posters provided do not apply to me unfortunately (it really is not importing, and I don't want it to always automatically import all shows as recordings, just the ones I choose).

Basically what I try (and what has worked in the past) is to browse to the show that I want to import, verify the metadata is correct, check the "Sage Recording?" box, and then click save. Then I go clear the "Archived?" box and save again. If I click "back" and then go back in immediately, the settings I made are still there. If I refresh my browser then browse back to the show the settings are back to the original values (archived and not a sage recording). At no time does the recording show up in the Sage recordings list.

I'm not sure what I can do to troubleshoot this. I have tried looking through logs, but there doesn't seem to be anything relevant that I could find, and in fact the bmtweb.log file is always empty. Do I need to increase the logging level somehow?

I just upgraded to the latest Sage beta (7.1.7) last night in hopes it would somehow fix this, but it made no difference unfortunately. I am on version 4.9.15 of BMT.

Thanks for any suggestions anyone can provide!

That sure sounds like the Library Options/TV Recordings in Import Directories option that I accidentally flipped then flipped back to fix my issue. Are you sure it is set to Recordings?

Thanks kbyrd.

Well, I thought I checked that, but maybe I am not thinking of the same setting. Could you briefly walk me through where that setting is located? Is that a core setting or a plugin? The one I did check was the phoenix plugin setting for "Import TV Media Types as Recordings". I have that set to false because I do not want anything to "automatically" show up in my recordings, I want to import the shows manually after I vet them. However, I did briefly switch that to true and try my import routine again when I saw your earlier post. It didn't help so I changed it back to false. I did not restart Sage between setting that to true and trying my manual import, but I can try that if you indicate that that is the setting you were referring to.

Thanks.

I'm using the Diamond UI, so this might not match your UI exactly. What you're looking for is the "Library options" or the "Advanced Video Browser Options" pop-up. It's the dialog that has "Allow video deletion" on it. I believe you'll find the setting this way:

In the Diamond UI, from a Movies view, hit options and select "Library Options", the setting "TV Recordings in Import Directories are:" is there

In the stock UI, I believe
- Go to Videos, select a view (I used Folder view).
- Hit options, or whatever you need to do to find the "Menu Options" pop-up. From there select "Advanced Options". This pop-up has the "TV Recordings in Import Directories are:" setting.

Mine is set to "recordings". Turning this on doesn't turn on auto-importing, as far as I can tell, it allows anything which is imported (however you manage that) to actually be seen as a recording.

Thumbs up Solved!

kbyrd, you are the man. Changing that setting to "Recordings" did indeed resolve my issue. I vaguely remember changing that a while back; who knows why.

Thanks for taking the time to walk me through it. I knew I had seen a setting worded like that somewhere, but I pored over the detailed settings page multiple times (assuming that *had* to be where a setting like that would be) with no luck.

Glad it worked! I changed mine a few days before my original post, no idea why I did it either.
