Pretty rediculous that they are concerned about piracy/theft of service, with content that would likely be majorly over-compressed to stream over cellular broadband - and scaled down to work on at MOST an 854x480 screen. Yeah, that's high value

Agreed. Unfortunately this is the mindset you're dealing with from the studios.

Agreed, but I don't get the impression that Netflix is particularly concerned. It's the studios who own the content.

Just like they block googletv and hulu etc.

I think it would be interesting for SageTV, now that v7 is out of beta, to focus on alternative devices such as ipad/iphone, android, and even PS3 and Wii and XBox.

Netflix was able to get an app added to PS3 and a channel on Wii. It took forever and they started with the discs, but they got their software running on both platforms.

I'd love to download an iso and burn a DVD for Wii or BlueRay for PS3 (if I had a blueray burner).

Of course, not understanding what's involved in any of this, I'm sure it's more complicated than I make it out to be. My point is only that it is possible.

Anyway ... pipe dream for me, but it would be cool to see it happen, although I suspect that we'd see Android and iphone apps before we see anything else non-PC.

Would this really require new hardware?? Couldn't this be done with a firmware upgrade??
