No clue why it wouldn't save them. Maybe a permissions issue?

Send a logfile and I will have a look.

Where is the logfile for things like that?

I can change other parameters (like extensions to look for), just not the exclusion time.

Can I just edit it by hand somewhere?

It's the Sage logfile. Enable logging in Sage and then set the log level of the plugin to Trace. (You do that in the plugin configuration.)

You can edit the exclusion times by hand but I'd have to go look at the specific format of the property.

I blew away Sage and started over. Installed it at C:\SageTV and used a different service account instead of local system.

Works now.

I've noticed something weird. I have my max concurrent jobs set to 5 but it only seems to queue up to 3 at a time. What I mean by that is I can have 5 recordings going at the same time but only 3 of those show in the queue. The other 2 will eventually end up being queued but not till the others finish.

Set the debug log level to Trace and post the logfile. I will have a look.

Ok, here is the log and some screenshots of the process list. Just to give you a bit of narrative, this time it appears that 4 started and the 5th did not get queued correctly. It showed 4 running and 0 queued. Then when the 3 of the running shows finished recording the 5th started up (after it had also finished recording). One of the original 4 shows that got started ran for another hour.

The log file was too large to attach so here is the public link to my Dropbox:

Thanks. I'll look at this tomorrow. Dropbox is blocked by my employer and I have a family event tonight.

I'm not seeing in the logfile what you are describing. This section says there are 5 jobs running:

Code:
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.376 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: ComskipManager.startMaxJobs: Started Job.
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.376 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: Number running = 5
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.377 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: Jobs running = 5
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.377 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: MediaFileID = 20035958
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.378 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: Title : Episode = Today :
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.378 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: MediaFileID = 20035960
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.378 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: Title : Episode = The Dr. Oz Show : Oz Viewers Who Saved Their Own Lives
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.379 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: MediaFileID = 20035962
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.379 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: Title : Episode = Live! With Kelly and Michael :
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.379 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: MediaFileID = 20035964
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.380 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: Title : Episode = Good Day Oklahoma :
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.380 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: MediaFileID = 20035966
Wed 12/17 9:33:13.380 [PluginEventQueue@247fe8] CD: SystemStatus: Title : Episode = Income Property : Jen & Brock
I can see the jobs end and that all looks normal.

Can you try to reproduce the problem again and send another logfile?

Just installed this but since I use 4 HDPVRs with 4 DTV receivers, I needed to use the comskip donate version vs. WITH the default plug for Sage. Didn't see exactly how to do that but search for "comskip dontate" in google and found it at the following address:
https://code.google.com/p/tmiranda/w...ercialDetector

Donated $15 via paypal and about a day later, received an email on how to download. The setup was pretty easy but if you are looking for the exact steps:

1. Donate and download once you get the link
2. Unzip to a directory called comskip-donate in your Sagetv folder
3. Go to into Sagetv setup/detailed setup/customize/comskip playback options/ commercial detector/ and re-point the "location of comskip.exe" and "location of comskip.ini" to the files in the folder you unzipped.
4. Go to your current recording shows (i.e. Law and Order), open the folder where you get the option to "Browse the Recordings" to bring up the list. There should be a new "Run Comskip on All" for the folder. Select that and it will start to process the recordings.

I set mine to execute 4 instances of comskip and it's running well with recordings play (live tv) and recording other shows... but I have a RAID 5 setup with 4 drives in my server, so that helps with the disk subsystem bottleneck on reads. It does take a while to run but when the wife saw the result, she was pretty impressed.

Thanks for the work on this, it's awesome!

@tmiranda - I hope, now that SageTV is going open source, you will continue to support this add-on as the new platform grows. It's probably my favourite add-on (well, maybe Phoenix is my favourite... but this is close first/second )

Yes, I plan on continuing support of most of the plugins I wrote. I'll probably not spend much time on the "odd balls" that nobody uses.

My favorites are this one and "Select and Batch Delete".

This is one of my favorites, too. I know that it's good by how well it eliminates wasted life watching commercials, but I knew it was great by the magnitude of jaw dropping from visiting guests.

Comskip Not Automatically Running..

Ok - so I read about the first 40 pages or so of this thread before posting this and didn't seem to find a solution to my problem. For some reason - Comskip is not running for me automatically (either when a recording starts or even after it has finished).

I can select a recording and do the 'Run Comskip' option on a recording manually and everything works beautifully - but the automatic stuff doesn't appear to work. (by 'works beautifully' - i can see comskip.exe launching in the task manager on my server, i see the indicator icon in sagetv, and i can play back files with comskip swimmingly).

I've attempted to turn on all the debugging stuff - and what I'm seeing is also peculiar. I see log entries starting with 'CD:' when I manually run comskip - but there are _no_ 'CD:' entries of any sort when starting/stopping recordings (not even any errors).

Anyone have any advice for me? Not sure if it matters - i'm utilizing an HD300 extender, running Gemstone, and have the same issue both for my OTA tuner and cablecard tuner.

also - I don't have anything set in the 'channels not to process' or anything like that.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

From what I can see the job ran successfully. See these lines:

Code:
Tue 8/25 3:10:30.216 [Thread-230@247b59] CD: StreamGetter: stdout: The commandline used was:
Tue 8/25 3:10:30.217 [Thread-230@247b59] CD: StreamGetter: stdout: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\comskip\comskip.exe" "--ini=C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\comskip\comskip.ini" F:\recordings\CelebrityNameGame-S01E114-391451-1.mpg
Tue 8/25 3:10:30.217 [Thread-230@247b59] CD: StreamGetter: stdout:
Tue 8/25 3:10:30.218 [Thread-230@247b59] CD: StreamGetter: stdout: Setting ini file to C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\comskip\comskip.ini as per commandline
Tue 8/25 3:10:30.218 [Thread-230@247b59] CD: StreamGetter: stdout: Using C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\comskip\comskip.ini for initiation values.
Tue 8/25 3:10:30.218 [Thread-230@247b59] CD: StreamGetter: stdout: Commercials were found.
Tue 8/25 3:10:30.234 [Thread-225@ba4434] CD: ComskipJob.executeComskipWindows: comskip return code = 1
Tue 8/25 3:10:30.235 [Thread-225@ba4434] CD: ComskipManager.jobComplete: Job has completed with status true
Can you restart the server and send a logfile that shows the plugin initialization? Maybe that will tell me something.

I have the full log file - but it's too large to include as an attachment -- i'll just upload the first half.

Also - note near the end of that first log I attached that I recorded the last minute of American Dad.

Tue 8/25 3:29:11.711 [AsyncRecord@176e17c] Called Seeker.record(A[393657,391265,"American Dad",35288@0825.03:00,30]) hostname=UIManager:localhost@@0023a5000c05-d63dcf

There is nothing after that point noting that commercial detector was attempting to do anything. That chunk of log you posted was from when I manually went and did 'run comskip' on an existing recording.

Also - checking out the plugin.java file in code.google.com -- and noticing that I'm not seeing this in my log anywhere:

"CD: PlugIn: Starting. Version "

So - not sure what that means or why it wouldn't be calling startup...

As you noted, it's not starting the plugin. I took a quick look and can't see exactly why, but I do see errors when Sage is trying to generate thumbnails.

First thing I'd do is try the obvious:
- Make sure the plugin is enabled.
- Uninstall the UI Mod and the General Plugin (both!) and then reinstall the UI Mod. (It wil lautomatically install the General.)
- See if any other plugins failed to load.

I'll look at the logfile in more detail as soon as I can. My real world job as a Financial Advisor has me busy at the moment.
