I think this will fix both the CS icon problem and ChePazzo's "-s" problem. To use this patch:
- stop Sage and/or the Sage service. - go to the JARs subdirectory and make a copy of the existing CommercialDetector.jar (don't skip this step - see warning below) - unzip the .jar file attached to this post and put it in the JARs subdirectory. - restart Sage. When you are finished testing it is important that you stop sage, delete the test .jar and restore the original. If you do not do this the "official" upgrade may not work. I will be posting an official update in the next day or two but I wanted to get a fix to those who are brave.

Start comskip as Soon as Recording Starts not working for me?
Unless I'm misunderstanding what this feature is supposed to do, it doesn't appear to work for me.
I am assuming that if I were to start watching a recorded show half way into the actual airing, it should show detected commercials in the timeline (if a commercial has occured) and allow me to skip the commercials that have already occured. This is not the behavior I am seeing on my HD200. All I see is the normal un-comskipped timeline. I've set the configuration to "true" for "Start comskip as Soon as Recording Starts" and I've installed the most recent updates for comskip and Sage v7. Any help? Thanks!

Assuming your CPU is fast enough that is true. Please set Sage debug logging to true and set the debug log level of the plugin to Trace and then attach a log for me to look at.

I've read your wiki and this thread... sorry for being dense, but where do you make the "configure the plugin" changes? There are UI configurations from the Sage UI, not the options you describe in your wiki.
You said, "You can place it anywhere you like, just make sure you configure the plugin and point it at the .exe and .ini you want to use. ..." Then said, " Edit: I must retract this last statement. Overwriting anything in the comskip directory ...." Thanks |

I used to use comskip on its own just fine, but I recently started using this plugin and love ease of use and quick install. One thing I noticed though is comskip isn't working as it used to when I ran it on its own.
Specifically, for some (not all) shows, I get a .log file, I don't get a .edl file, and in that log I see the following: Video PID not found, available video PID's 1011, I see the same error across numerous shows and channels. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

I might have answered my own question. I was previously using the donator version of comskip for h.264. Is h.264 not supported in this plugin?

You have to point the plugin to your comskip installation - use the settings page to do so

To use a different version of comskip (like the donator version), unzip the comskip package to anyplace you like and then go to the Configuration. One of the options let you choose where comskip.exe is located.

It's the Sage debug log. Go to the Sage install directory (on Windows it's usually C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV) and look for sagetv_0.log. You will also have to enable debug logging in Sage. I thinks that's under Setup->Detailed Setup->Advanced.

Thanks Miranda.. IMO, no need for an "easier way." I just had not learned this is where the info is kept\configured.
BTW, great work. Your work is greatly appreciated!!! |

Very helpful. Try this.
- Make a copy of the comskip.ini file (C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\comskip\comskip.ini) - Edit the copy and change the line "live_tv=0" to "live_tv=1" - In the plugin configuration go to "Location of comskip.ini" and point it at the edited .ini file. There is no need to stop/start sage when you do the copy and edit. Let me know how that goes. I think you found a bug in my .ini file

Version 0.70
Quote:
To install: - Download the attached file and unzip to the install directory on your Sage server (NOT the SageClient's install directory). - When you go to the plugin manager you will see an "Update Available" message for the CommercialDetector General plugin. Install the update on your server and also on your sageClient (if you're using one.) After installing there will be a new configuration option to choose the hours that comskip should NOT be run. Check all that apply. This also will update to the latest free version of comskip (80.032) and corrects the live TV issue that uberpixel reported. Note that if you have it set to start comskip immediately it will NOT start if you are in one of the "restricted" hours. Instead it will queue the recording and processing will start as soon as allowed. If all goes well I will post the official update on Sunday night. Thanks, Tom

Thanks for this great plugin. I installed it yesterday and it appears to be working fine. I do have a problem which I reported in the Comskip Playback thread
http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...&postcount=117 about a circle of death problem which does go away when the Comskip Playback client plugin is disabled. Is there any suggestions for this problem from the Commercial Detector side of things? |

See my post in the other thread. To see if it's a problem with my STVi you should install the comskip playback STVi directly and do NOT install the CommercialDetector UI STVi. If the spinning circle persists you know it's the the comskip playback STVi. If the spinning circle goes away you know it's my STVi.
