I still hope some tweaking can be done to the Intelligent Recording feature at some point in the future. I just checked the scheduled recordings and see that General Hospital & One Life to Live are yet again set to be recorded. I recently marked every upcoming episode as don't like, but I had to go do it again for a whole new crop of those shows. All I can figure out is that SageTV has noticed that I haven't ever actually _watched_ these shows, so it seems to figure that I can't really know that I don't like them. Try it; you'll like it! Wait a minute... it wasn't that long ago that I commented on the same problem! I posted on the same shows back on 4-28, above. I wonder if there is some problem with it not remembering the "don't like" marks that I made that day...

Instead of tweaking IR, I would like a "Don't Ever Record Under Pain of Death" function. When a show is marked as such, the only thing that should override it is a manual record.

Followed, of course, by a slow, painful death....hmmm

Perhaps a "Don't Ever Record Under Pain of Death(unless manually requested" function.

bah..that would mean another button would be needed on the remote. If I tell sage I don't like something then it shouldn't record it.

I'm filing a bug report for this one because: I just checked the scheduled recordings and see that General Hospital & One Life to Live are yet again set to be recorded. I recently marked every upcoming episode as don't like, but I had to go do it again for the same exact airings of those shows.

After rebooting due to some software updates & then restarting SageTV, every one of those shows that I marked as "don't like" had that flag cleared. No wonder they keep returning to the recording schedule!

I've found "don't like" to be useless. I repeatedly tell sage I don't like a show and it still insists on recording it. It's really starting to piss me off. IR should be renamed to "probably record some shows you like, but will drive you insane by repeatedly recording crap no matter how many times you tell me you don't like it"

Well, I wouldn't go that far. I had a HD problem about two weeks ago and reinstalled Sage. I went to the upcoming recordings and started marking shows as "Don't like". In less than a week, Sage had a good feel for what to record with IR.

The problem is that you need something that says "Don't ever record" because IR, rightfully so, IMO, goes by genre, actors, etc to make a best guess, most likely based on the scale. I occasionally watch the NBC nightly news, but I don't want it recorded by IR. However, if I watch it, but mark it as "don't like" I can see how the system would get confused.

IMO, a "Don't ever record" would be the tie breaker. Use the algorithm, which again, I think works very well, but before record, check to "Don't ever record flag". If set, don't record.

It will be interesting to see how well the "aggressive_negative_profiling" option in the next build will work to solve these issues.

FWIW, I've never had the same problem you describe, after one or two Don't Likes Sage seems to get the idea, at lest for me.

I agree that I'm waiting to see what that change will do for me... but that will only work if the "don't like" settings are remembered. What is happening to me now is that SageTV is clearing some of those settings on me, so it made no difference that I told it I didn't like those shows.
