I've tried the IMDB plugin which allows me to go find it and save the information but it seems to be incompatible with the Phoenix Fanart plugin.
SageTV caches images so it may take a while before changes you make to fanart on the disk will show up on the screen. You can force the cache update by restarting SageTV...restarting the SageTV Service or SageTV on the server and restarting SageTV Client should force the caches to update with the new fanart.

2. Everyone talks about the BMT web ui interface. I can't seem to figure out how to access that. Any help on that would be great. Should I be going there to correct the information?
Assuming you have BMT installed, it should have installed the Jetty Web Server as a dependency. You should be able to get to the BMT web ui by using:

http://<server ip address>:8080/bmt

Just replace <server ip address> with the ip address of your SageTV server machine. If you installed Jetty Web Server previously and set it to a different port, then you'll have to change the 8080 to the correct port number. The web ui will let you grab new fanart, but you'll have to manually remove the wrong fanart by browsing the files on your disk and previewing the images and deleting the ones that are wrong.

Sorry no help on #1

#2 Once you install the bmt plugin from the plugin manager, open http://localhost:8080/bmt/ and go wild

Awesome, thanks for the info guys.

Come to find out I had tried the address of localhost:8080/bmt before but actually realized I didn't have the Metadata Tools plugin installed. Once I got that installed it came up.

As for replacing the images I found that in the posters folder there were multiple images still showing. Once I removed the extra images and left only the one I wanted used it refreshed and they are showing up now.

I've got two Sage V7 machines running for test purposes. I have a question about Folder view with the plugin. From the screenshots below, you can see one instance with no filenames showing below the movie poster, and the second image shows the filenames below the movie poster. What determines whether the filenames are shown or not? I don't want them shown. The only difference between these two setups is on the one with no filenames below the poster, the import drive is local, whereas the second image that shows the filenames uses a network drive for imports.

Also, it seems if I go into the Metadata in BMT, remove the Movie Titles, update metadata, then add the title back in, update metadata, the filename below the poster disappears for me. I just don't want to have to do this everytime I add a new file.

Thanks!

Davey

The plugin is set to remove the title if and only if there is Phoenix Fanart for the item. For the cases where you DON'T see the title, it looks like the phoenix central fanart folder might not be defined. Notice that it is missing the background image as well (top right hand corner).....

btl.

<edit left the DON'T out>

Thx for the response. My Phoenix Fanart location is defined in both versions of sage as: C:\Program Files\SageTv\SageTv. I do see the images are missing (Background) for the ones that are showing the filename, and the images (background) are there for the couple that do not have the filename...

edit: got it figured out. You can't run the bmt on a different machine, unless of course you set your fantart location as a global share on the network, which I suppose I should do, so that all clients can access it....

yes, either share the fanart folder, and set it to the share, or, for higher performance, you can keep local sync'd copies of the fanart on each client machine. (would have to use an external utility to keep the folders in sync... microsoft's synctoy or robocopy would work well)

This has probably already been asked, but is there a way to make the background fanart images to actually show up in the background under the menus?

I finally finished setting up the new Sage client box on my system, and shared the fanart folder. Everything works fine, but the client is very slow in loading fanart, which makes menu navigation a full 1 second per click experience.

Is this something the scale images option will take care of? Would this create a local cache on the client and prevent this horrible menu lag? I get the spinning circle every movie I move down to.

Yes, scaling will help that alot. Make sure you are in full screen mode on the client when you scale them - the size they are scaled to is determined by the size of the Sage Window - so you want it to be at the size you normally run it.

You can also make a local copy of your fanart folder on the client. You'd need a tool like synctoy to keep them in sync, but it should drastically improve performance over opening from a network share.

Good suggestion. Once I get the box hooked up to the TV and its at the right resolution I'll try the scale caching. If that fails to achieve the performance i'm after, I'll look into syncing.

It does incrementally cache the items as it goes along, so one thing you could do once you decide to scale them in bulk is delete the cache so that they are all scaled to the same size.

<Sage Install Folder>/cache/imagefactory/v7phoenix/*

This does help some - BUT at least with this plugin it is going to use the cached version - not the local synced version. Other plugins that use fanart without caching would benefit more from a local sync.

BMT is working perfectly and showing all of the meta-data/fan art in its web ui.

However sagetv will not show ANY fan art (no covers, no backgrounds).

I have been trying to resolve this issue for almost a day now. Any advice will help.

Thanks

Make sure your central fanart folder is set up correctly.

Fast reply! It is much appreciated!

I'm pretty sure it is set up correctly... Here is a screen shot and my phoenix log file.

Thanks again for your help.

Edit: Aha! Apparently there are 3 different phoenix plugins? Either way yours was the one missing. Thanks again!

A few days or so ago I noticed that the shadow/shading around the DVD covers (when highlighted) got much darker and larger. It used to be like a transparent white and now it is BLACK and big. Was this an intentional change that may have happened when I updated a bunch of plugins? If nobody else has noticed this or you aren't sure what I'm talking about, I'll provide a screen shot when I get home. I'd like to get it back to the way it was if at all possible

Thanks!

Are you are using MBDiamond? The black around the DVD covers may be something to do with MBDiamond theme, I'll have a look and let you know. In the pre 7.0.12 version I saved a blank image to get rid of the shadow and with the changes to the theme.properties file I may have relinked the default by mistake.
Cheers,

Jeremy

Update: Looks like it is MBDiamond, I will correct tonight. If you want a quick fix save the attached file into the MBDiamond Theme folder.
