I've had this installed since it was first released in the plugins and I've had very little trouble with this but think there may be a bug? Normally I just use CloneDVD2 (to take out all but English for the languages) to copy my DVDs to the hard drive. The next time I do a refresh, the movies I copied automatically show up and I have the DVD cover, background, info, etc. I have the 5x3 setup so have the mini wall and this is great

However, sometimes I have noticed that only with my TV series type DVDS, the info is "lost" and I end up with only a picture of a DVD disc, the text shows back up under this graphic, and the background/wallpaper which normally shows on the right is no longer there. This happens ONLY with TV series type DVDs. I have Burn Notice, Moonlight, and The Mentalist. All of these (with the exception of Burn Notice Season 2 disc 4) will lose their information and display only the generic DVD disc image. To "fix" this, I have to only exit Sage completely then restart Sage and they come back.

Not sure why this is happening? I suspect it may be due to my TV series I am not naming exactly correctly? Meaning, I sometimes name the folder "Burn Notice Season 2 Disc 4" or maybe "Moonlight S01D03". I don't know the right way to do this or even if it matters but the covers and backgrounds ARE picked up either way... just sometimes after a refresh the info is lost and doesn't come back until I reload Sage.

Is there a reason this is happening and anything I can do to prevent it? What is odd is that one of the Burn Notice disks does NOT lose the info (only one) and on the right its title is the same as the way I have the folder named but that may not be the case for the others. Meaning, I may have the folder named "Burn Notice Season 2 Disc 3" but the title on the right might be "Burn Notice S02D03". Not sure if this has something to do with it or not?

Anyways, love the plugin and not sure if this may be a bug with TV series DVDs or if I'm just doing something wrong? Thanks!!!

D:/Action/Whiteout/MainMovie/Whiteout
I have placed .properties files and folder.jpg (cover) in each of the folders.

Is the above correct?

Why doesn't the fan art (which is a background and not a cover) that bmt collected show?
Sorry to be a pest but I still can not get the background images to show in SageMC.

I have confirmed that I am using the correct file structure, the correct file extension, cental fanart folder is specified correctly, I have enabled scaling and I have also scaled the background images to something like 247x164, I am using the lastet version of everything but still no backgrounds.

I get cover art that is located in each of the folders where the actual movie file is located. I have also confirmed that the folders created in the central fanart folder for each video has the same name as that of the movie and that the folder that contains the movie has the same name. The only thing that gets displayed is the cover art (folder.jpg) that is located in the folder with the movie.

bailio; how does the fanart in the backgrounds folder get located and then displayed? what in that process could stop the background from being displayed?

I apologize for double posting.

I am running SageTV 7.0.11 and I have installed the STV for V7 SageMC_16x9.

When I was running SageTV v6 I was also running/using SageMC_16X9_b_24 and was not able to get the backgrounds to show.

The plugin that this thread is about is for Fanart in the default SageTV UI. I can't help really with SageMC issues - you should try a thread either in the BMT or SageMC portions of the forum!

Actually I am mostly using the default SageTV UI and I can not get the backgrounds to load there either. In fact I prefer using the default SageTV UI.

I am and have been posting in the bmt/SageMC forums and it was there that I was led to believe that backgrounds only worked in SageMC. However, as I stated above it does not work in the default SageTV v7 UI.

Thanks

Sorry I can't help you more - the fact that you've never gotten phoenix fanart to work seems to indicate that you have some fundamental flaw in your setup....

Have you let BMT get your fanart and create the directories for you, or are you manually setting up the directories?

btl.

I have done it both ways and currently I am using the bmt created folders with fanart.

Thanks for trying to help me.

One last question; is it the Phoenix_api that grabs the .jpg from the cental fan art folder?

Just to be clear, what exactly are you expecting with fanart in the default UI? It's not the same as it was with SageTV v6. As far as I know, with SageTV v7 default UI you won't get the background of your screen to be the fanart background like you could get with SageTV v6. Instead, you get a scaled down background that displays to the right of the video list like a thumbnail image...you might be mistaking it for coverart. In the Video Detail screen, you only get the coverart or poster fanart image and I think that's it.

If all else fails, load up the default UI, enable debug logging, restart SageTV, go to your imported video list where you expect the fanart to be showing, and then you can grab the sagetv_0.txt log file from the SageTV directory and the bmt.log and phoenix.log from the SageTV\logs directory and attach the logs here or your other message thread and one of us can see if anything looks wrong. Those steps should be all you need to do if you are going to be browsing the imported video list from an extender. If you do this with a PC client or the server client with SageTV running as a service, be sure debug logging is enabled for the client as well as the server and then also attach the sagetvclient_0.txt (I think that's the name of the client debug log).

I am clear on the how the fanart is displayed in the standard V7 UI. There are few screenshots in one of posts in this thread that may help.

I will do/attempt to do what you suggest and post back.

My first thought would be that it seems like a permissions problem, where SageTV can't access the contents of the folder. Your SageTV debug log has Java Exceptions errors related to the phoenix api, so there is definitely something wrong. It could be the wrong version of a phoenix related .jar file, conflicting plugin, wrong settings somewhere, or Windows file/network permission problem.

The the plugin versions and jar filenames listed in the debug log looks good to me, with one possible exception...A new version of the Phoenix Core Services and Phoenix API were released yesterday. Try updating those to v2.0.3 and see if things magically start working. If fanart is still broke, here are a few more questions: Are you running SageTV as a service and the local server SageTV Client, or are you running it from the desktop where a single SageTV instance acts as both client and server? Do you have Windows UAC enabled or disabled? In the BMT web UI, what is the data listed in the Phoenix section of the status page (or post a screenshot)? Can you attach your sage.properties file (might be a different .properties file if you aren't running SageTV as a service)?

There are two main fanart related errors showing in the debug log that are continually repeated whenever fanart should be on the screen:

Code:
Wed 6/30 15:32:27.812 [AWT-EventQueue-0@1d1e730] EXCEPTION in getValueAsObject:sage.a.e: Error in method reflection of phoenix_api_HasFanartBackground of java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException for:phoenix_api_HasFanartBackground(LocalAiring) && IsPlaying() == false
Wed 6/30 15:32:27.829 [ActiveRender-SAGETV_PROCESS_LOCAL_UI@febc27] EXCEPTION in getValueAsObject:sage.a.e: Error in method reflection of phoenix_api_HasFanartBackground of java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException for:phoenix_api_HasFanartBackground(LocalAiring) && IsPlaying() == false
You might want to try posting these Java Exception errors in the BMT subforum or in the BMT message thread and see if Sean (stuckless) can shed any light on what might cause that particular exception.

As far as configuration errors go, I can't think of much. Just be sure the fanart directory is configured properly in Setup->Detailed Setup->Customize->Phoenix Central Fanart Folder and in Setup->SageTV Plugins->Installed Plugins->Phoenix Core Services->Configure Plugin->Central Fanart Folder. The Phoenix Core Services configuration properties can also be viewed and changed in the BMT web UI.

Wow! Thank you for working on this.

I am running SageTV as a service on PC and to a HD200.

Hey,

Just installed the plugin today and am in the process of configuring it. I had 2 questions.

1) What is in place if anything to purge out old fan art? I can imagine over a year of using it, when videos or recordings are removed, fanart will just keep piling up.

2) Slightly confused on the extender cache. Does this create a separate folder containing the same structure, but miniaturized versions, or does it create some sage specific cached image? I ask because I'd like to keep the originals in tact on my NAS, but let the caching/resizing occur on a separate collection.

I don't think there's anything setup to actually go in and removed unnecessary fanart.

The cache for extenders (and normal clients also) doesn't impact the originals at all.

The only thing I see odd in the sage.properties files is this line:

phoenix/mediametadata/fanartSupportClass=sagex.phoenix.fanart.SageMCFanartSupport

Mine is set to:

phoenix/mediametadata/fanartSupportClass=sagex.phoenix.fanart.PhoenixFanartSupport

If you are using the default UI, try changing that line in your sage.properties file to match mine and see if that helps. Be sure to stop the SageTV service before opening the sage.properties file to make the change.

If you are using the default UI, try changing that line in your sage.properties file to match mine and see if that helps. Be sure to stop the SageTV service before opening the sage.properties file to make the change.
That nailed it!

Thank you!

btl.

Actually SAD will remove fanart when videos are deleted or romoved. At least I think slugger added the code that I did.

Sorry if these are pretty basic questions but I can't seem to find the answers for them anywhere.

1. When using this plugin there are a few movies that come up with the wrong data since there are other movies out there with the same name. I've located the central repository where the backgrounds and posters are located. I then downloaded the correct image and replaced it (even with the same name) but no matter what I do it will not change in SageTV. What am I missing here? Is there some simple way to replace the incorrect image and data with the right ones? I've tried the IMDB plugin which allows me to go find it and save the information but it seems to be incompatible with the Phoenix Fanart plugin.

2. Everyone talks about the BMT web ui interface. I can't seem to figure out how to access that. Any help on that would be great. Should I be going there to correct the information?
