Try this:

HKLM\Software\Frey Technologies\SageTV\DirectX9\AllowCCForVMR9=0

Please let us know if that works. Dont forget to restart sageTVservice/sageTV.exe on the PC client before trying that new setting. SageTV support seems to think the AR bug is caused by the CC decoder filter.

I have noticed that the image quality on Hulu Desktop is way better. Plus it correctly deals with the aspect ratios.

EVR and VMR both use the same filters and being affected the same way. Overlay is different; and, the registry fix I mentioned wont work if you're using Overlay.

I now realized how silly a question that was

I have just tried and no change. This was on my client. Ugh.

I really would much rather do away with the Hulu interface if I can, but right now it is working much better than Sage.

Any other ideas?

Hmm... thats the only fix sageTV gave me. They were able to reproduce the issue and fix it with that registry setting. If you've already restarts sagetV server and client completely after adding that registry setting on your client, then you probably should file a bug report to support@sageTV.com. They definitely need to know that setting doesnt work on sageTV 6.xx

Can you please try that registry setting and see if it works for you?

I didn't restart the server, just the client. But I will restart Sage on my server and reboot the client.

Well, no go. I restarted Sage on my server. Restarted PlayOn. Rebooted the client PC. Still no go.

I'll file a bug report.

Does Playon have to be installed on the same machine as Sage server or can I install it on another machine on the network? The other machine on the network will not have Sage Client installed.

Nope, PlayON can be installed on any machine on your network. You may have to do battle with firewalls/antivirus to get it working, but once everything is set up properly, it'll work just fine.

- My PlayOn server is a separate machine from my Sage server.
- I am able to see and watch shows from my Xbox360.
- I am able to browse my server using UpnpInspector from my Sage server but I am unable to start a video by copying the episode's url and trying to play it in VLC.
- Firewalls are off on both machines and I do not have AV turned on on the Sage server.
- I updated to the latest STV before importing the plugin.
- I do see a TempFeed file but it is named TempFeed_client.xml but the items tag has elements saying 'No Videos Found'
- UPnP2Podcast.exe "PlayOn:Hulu:+2" debug takes a long time to run and when it completes it also gives items saying 'No Videos Found'

Does anyone have any idea on what I can try next?
This continues to not work on my set up. Can someone please (pretty please) look at my log file and see if they can spot what's causing my grief?

Aspect Ratios

Well, as simple as changing decoders. I was using the Microsoft decoder and was not getting Hulu to fill the screen. Correct ratio, but black bars all around.

I tried the Sage decoder and it was worse. It filled the screen vertically, but not horizontally.

Then I tried the Arcsoft decoder and lo and behold, perfect. Full 16x9 glory. No stretching, shrinking or otherwise distorting of the Hulu picture.

So now I am happy

Is the a limit to the number of programs this plugin will show within one series?

Example: Stargate SG-1 shows 200 episodes. But on Hulu, there are an additional 14.

I have the same issue where it works on my Xbox360 but in Sage it says "Couldn't find UPnP Device". I think it's something to do with the VPN I run.

netflix quality

I noticed that the quality of netflix on my Xbox 360 is significantly better than through playon on the HD200. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a tweak to fix the quality so they match?

Thanks

Nope, the quality on the 360 is always going to be better through PlayON.

Can anyone give me any advice? Any ideas on what to check? I'm able to play things on the Playon server machine from my Xbox 360 but not from Sage even though I don't have any firewalls on either machine. I'm getting pretty desperate at this point and am contemplating dropping my netflix service.

*EDIT* I closed UPnP Inspector and reopened it. Now I'm not seeing my PlayOn server on the other machine like I was before nor can I see my UPNP router. It seems like sometimes win7 can see these devices and other times they cannot. What the heck?

Is there a way to change the timeout value on UPnP2Podcast? UPnP Inspector will eventually find my PlayOn server on my other machine but it can take a few minutes (~2 minutes) to do so. I don't know why it takes so long and this is probably why UPNP2Podcast returns no results.
