I don't know anything about those temp files except that the online services menu creates .flv's that sometimes don't get deleted.

I have a few seasons of The Office in my Netflix Instant Queue that do not show up in the menu.

When I manually change the properties file and change out +2 for +3 these item DO show up.

Is there a more elegant solution?
From the first post...

Bug List:
  • @SageTV - TV shows aren't working via Netflix.. Handling this will require the ability to specify dynamic sub folders from within the podcast feed. Feature request has already been submitted and Sage sees the benefit, but its not trivial to implements so it'll prolly be a while for this one.

Thumbs down

Hi Everyone,

My setup is: SageTV server, running on HP WHS, Playon Server running on the same HP WHS and multiple HD200 receivers.
I started to use Playon (for watching HULU) about three weeks ago – everything worked perfectly fine.
Now instead of playing video I am getting error message:
Windows\Temp\xyz.flv file is no longer available to play
I searched SageTV and Playon forums, applied all latest patches and upgrades but still getting the same error message.
I am not even sure is this SageTV or Playon problem?
Any ideas how to get it working again?

Thank you,

- Vitaliy

Check to see if you have a lot of giant .flv files in your %TEMP% folder.

Great add-on and my wife and I love it. Quick question:

Has the issue with show titles that are numerical (30rock, 24, etc.) been fixed? I am trying to get a feed for 24 up but seem to be running into some problems.

I need access to my dev PC to send out the feed updates which includes 24 but I haven't been able to get to it all week. Shouldn't be any later than Saturday.

Thanks for the response. I finally figured it out. If anyone wants to add 24 prior to Mr. Penguin's next release, add the following to the botton of your CustomOnlineVideoLinks_UPnP2Podcast_Hulu.properties file:
Code:
# Show : 24
# FirstAired :
# Network :
# Genres :
# TVDB Poster :
xFeedPodcastCustom/Hulu_Show_24=xPodcastFOX_Current,xPodcast_Hulu_Action_FOX_SubCat,xPodcast_Hulu_Network_FOX_SubCat,xFlagTitleNone;external,UPnP2Podcast,PlayOn:Hulu:TV:Full Episodes:#:^24$:Episodes:+2
And add this to the bottom of your CustomOnlineVideoUIText_UPnP2Podcast_Hulu.properties file:
Code:
Category/Hulu_Show_24/ThumbURL=http://assets.hulu.com/shows/show_thumbnail_24.jpg
Category/Hulu_Show_24/LongName=24
Category/Hulu_Show_24/ShortName=24
Did I mention this add-on rocks!!

playon with crackle tv and padcast

I sent a bug a few days back reguarding crackle tv not working i wonder if you have had a chance to look at it and if it broke for others.
A new question is there a way to save favorite podcasts, its an hour or so for all the podcasts to come and need to be on the client. I am watching some shows in the 'S' range to it takes a while to get there.

Thanks kill plugin

Same as above, no dev PC=can't debug anything.

As for favoriting, check PlayOn Recent, it hold onto the last 10 shows you've watched.

EvilPenguin, I put in a feature request to the PlayOn Dev team asking them to fix the AR issue. Apparently, there are other players that depend on AR information as well. That might be quicker than waiting for sageTV 7.0.

Hi evilpenguin,

No, “winwows/temp” does not have giant .fvl files. I even deleted everything from this location and still getting error(-2) messages regarding missing .fvl file.
So, this is SageTV related problem, right?
What else should I try?

Thank you,

- Vitaliy

That's probably not the temp directory it's using. Usually %TEMP% expands to C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp. That's where you should be looking for leftover .flv files.

Smoother Video playback

For those of you who have fast machines, but still have video performance issues with this addon (or other flash/Hulu based files), getting PlayOn version 2.59.3671.63 + Flash 10.1 beta 2 + Nvidia Ion driver 195.81_desktop (or newer) will make the video much better. Its not going to be as smooth as silk like hardware acceleration for bluray or DVD; but its significantly improved. It certainly made a big difference for me playing 1080p youtube videos; such as movie trailers... on the PC.

I didnt realize this, but it just occurred to me that our HD-200's already have builtin hardware GPU acceleration for flash; or their relatively weak CPUs could never handle some of the 1080p flash clips that I play back with Movie Trailers Search for SageMC.

Well, not quite.

Flash Video is really just h.264 + audio in a .flv container. If you download the actual video the flash player is playing (like how Sage does Youtube), it can be accelerated or hardware decoded by anything that can handle h.264 like the HD200.

How PlayOn work is that it plays back the .flv video inside the hulu flash player in a virtual IE window and then screencasts the output as MPEG2. Prior to 10.1 beta, 100% of the h.264 decoding was done in software which, depending on your CPU, could be very taxing to your system and didn't leave CPU for PlayON to do the realtime sceencasting encoding.

Now with the Flash 10.1 beta it'll offload a lot of the h.264 decoding to your GPU. So while the video is still playing back in the hulu flash player, your CPU doesn't take as big of a hit as before meaning theirs more headroom for PlayON's realtime sceencasting encoding.

Hi Everyone,

SageTV and Playon servers both running on my HP WHS server.
It is based on Windows 2003 server. System Variable %TEMP%
is pointing to C:\Windows\Temp location.
This location has a problematic xyz.flv files but all they are
empty – length is zero. There are no .flv files anywhere else.
So, what happens is – when file is buffering for viewing it is
created in C:\Windows\Temp location but file is not getting
any video in and eventually timeout with ERROR(-2) “File is no
longer available for viewing” (or something similar).
I have no idea how everything is glued together and have a hard
time to understand which part is broken – SageTV or Playon
(or maybe even both). All software had all latest updates and
patches applied. Initially I though, SageTV cannot find a file.
But it happens to be file is simply empty. So does it mean Playon
is not feeding this file with video?

Please advice what else to check and how to fix this issue?

Thank you,

- Vitaliy

Hi evilpenguin,

As whatever test bed I can try my old laptop.
However as a permanent solution WHS is an absolute must.
Before 01/01/2010 everything was working fine.
What are your thoughts?
Is this SageTV or Playon problem?

Thank you,

- Vitaliy

Hi evilpenguin,

Playon version is: 2.59.3671.63
SageTV version is: 6.6.2.218
STV File SageTV3.xml (version 6.6.2.24)
STV file set version: 22009120901
Online Videos version: 2009120701

Is it any way easy way to test just Playon setup?
Should I ask Playon support for help?

Thank you,

Do you have a Xbox, PS3, Wii, or HD200? Any of those can try manually playing the videos via UPnP. The instructions for the game systems is on PlayON's site, for the HD200 check Geektonic.
