@nyplayer, Yes I did get Spike to work, I only added a couple shows so far though, I sent you a pm.

@Chris, Opus made a tutorial sticky at the top of this forum on how to customize online content links.

Cant stress enough the easiest way to make sure you are linking correctly is to use the upnp inspector posted by Simonen.

Search/Update/Change List of programs?

Ok this thread is getting a little riduculous with all the posts. . .

but once again I say. . .freaking great job!!

Now one question. . .how does the list of shows for each network work? (cbs, hulu, etc.)
Any chance we can add our own via some xml hacking (for example i'd love to load up old star trek shows off the cbs site (yes i know i'm a geek))?

Also any chance of being abel to search. . .

And btw, the quality amazes me. . . heroes looks pretty darn good and so does espn.

Not much. Playon needs to be running on your network, and then you start the HD200 in standalone mode (i.e., don't auto connect to your sage server.)

Then, I think , you go to the file browser option, and you should see the play on listed there. You can navigate through all of the menus from there.

I'm still lost on this. I added plugins to Playon, used upnp inspector to find the feed information for those plugins. Now what? I can't seem to find an .xml file to add to the custom feeds file. Would anybody out there be able to do a writeup of where to go from there?

unless you've downloaded the zip file provided in that post, you don't have the files. Download the zip, extract them to the specified location, then you can see what you need to do to edit them.

Hey gang. I think I've gotten the handle of editing the custom online video files to show new plugin feeds. I tested the Food Network feeds and I managed to add three shows. I may complete the rest and if I do I will share to save someone else time. Its not that they are hard to write its just tedious, hats off to you EP for all your work!

Just wanted to suggest that we all share our custom feeds if we install plugins to save each other some time. I wanted to explore the PBS plugin to see if it was worth it compared to the Online Videos that Sage already provides but I couldn't sniff any feeds once I installed the plugin. Maybe it isn't compatible with the current version of PlayOn.

Hey, so as long as you extract the files into the right place, you should see the new Online Services menu items (NBC, CBS, etc.) (just not the videos), even if you haven't loaded the STVi yet..

Check to make sure that these two files exist in this location...
Quote:
C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\OnlineVideos\CustomOnlineVideoLinks.properties
C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\OnlineVideos\CustomOnlineVideoUIText.properties
  • If the files aren't there then you didn't extract the zip file correctly. Download/install 7zip, right click the zip file and select "extract to...", and for the path enter "C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\"
  • If the files are there, you need to make sure that you are running at least SageTV v6.6 with the most recent version of the default STV.

This has got to be one of the COOLEST 3rd party integrations since commercial skipping! Thanks for putting the time into this.

This is probably a PlayOn question, but does anyone know if it's possible to pre-load all shows in your feeds so that when a section is selected you don't have to wait for it to download a listing of shows? I figure it would be nice to pre-load this say on a daily basis or hourly basis for a quicker response.

The links you get for the videos expire after a while, so pre-loading them is a bad idea. 10-30 seconds is just the price you'll have to pay for all this wonderful content

However, its still possible that there are some optimizations I can put in my tool to make the feeds generate faster.

PlayOn Live plugin

EP,

The folks over at PlayOnPlugins posted a fantastic little plugin that allows PlayOn to work with JustinTV.

I've successfully got it working in PlayOn and I'm trying to figure out how to write the CustomOnlineVideoLinks to allow for the changing content. The problem is since the game titles change constantly, it's difficult to hard code what to look for.

For example, today I could use:
xFeedPodcastCustom/PlayOnLiveHockey=xPodcastPlayOnLive;"PlayOn:PlayOn Live:HOCKEY:Montreal Canadiens vs Toronto Maple Leafs (7:00 PM ET):+2"

and I'll be able to see the feeds for that game. Is there a way to code the CustomOnline file to use a wild card after HOCKEY:***:+2 to pull whatever new games there are?

I've searched in a few places but haven't seen anything so I'm sorry if this has been answered. This plugin looks pretty promising for those that either want to watch EPL matches or don't get DirecTV Sunday Ticket.

I'm attaching the UPnP2Podcast debug log so you can see what I mean.

Try this...

xFeedPodcastCustom/PlayOnLiveHockey=xPodcastPlayOnLive;"PlayOn:PlayOn Live:HOCKEY:+3"

That'll tell it that once its in the HOCKEY directory, check the next 3 levels of directories and return all of the videos found.

Well, that kind of works and I had tried that. But it looks like there's a problem in the way the PlayOn plugin (or Justin TV) lists the actual show.

Rather than an episode title like other channels use (ESPN:NHL:Western Conference Preview - for example) the plugin shows the episode or video file as one of three things: Watch Now, Off The Air or Not Supported (yet).

And it looks like Sage is having a problem distinguishing between the different folders those episode titles appear in. So it's just displaying the last of each of those names.

This might be a problem with the Online Services not having an additional level to use. Because that would probably be the best setup without having to hard code each game everyday.

Either way, thanks a ton for your work. This import has been a ton of fun to play with.

This plugin is really god sent. It is right up there with neilm's web server in term of bad@ssness. The HD200 works great with it.

But I got a few problems:

I haven't been able to get the HD100 to work with this plugin. Not sure why, I imported the STVI and it says that it is loaded, but no nothing shows up in the Hulu list, or any other lists (CBS, ABC, FOX, NBC, etc). How do I trouble shoot this?

How do I refresh a list once it is already loaded? Lets say I loaded the Hulu user queue list, then I go to a web browser and added a few new shows to the list, then back to SageTV, how to I update the list so that the newly added shows are listed? Do I power cycle the HD200 off and on?

What about Hulu subscriptions? Is there a way to process these into RSS also?

My wife wants me to add a channel for HGTV. I’ve been messing around in the properties and can’t seem to get it worked out. My problem is knowing how PlayOn or Hulu or both interpret the titles of shows.

I’ve been trying to look at the syntax and model my custom feed after some others in the properties file. Where I’m kind of stuck is knowing how to title it… For example, (unrelated) on comedy central there’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” that’s how the title shows up in Hulu. The feed listed in properties displays DailyShow.

Is this a matter of trial and error or is there an easy way to determine how to enter the title as it is needed?
