It has nothing to do with stability. A fragged drive might make some stuttering. 64k will frag less, so it should help with stuttering in certain cases.

In practice, under normal conditions, you may not notice a performance difference between 4K and 64K block sizes. IN theory, it should reduce the number of individual block-access operations. But you may not notice a problem until things get really fragmented or when your drive is busy doing something else.

I think many of these little tweaks are not showstoppers in terms of immediate performance, but they all add up and I think that collectively they can all be the difference between the guy who says "My system occaisonally gets a stutter" and the guy who says "My system works just fine..."

Just my two cents on the matter.

While I have you on the subject, what other tweaks do you (or anybody) recommend for people who are having stability issues with the pvr350 card?

Switch to an FX-5200 for video out. Not what you wanted to here but what I did/do.

I don't remember how well XP does in resizing the cluster size for an existing partition (if it can even do that) in case you already have one set up & don't want to lose that data, but I use Partition Magic for all my partition resizing/mosification/moving & it works great. I'm sure there are other tools to do this... that just happens to be the one I use.
