Trying to playback everything. I have 720p BD rips (.mkv), HD-PVR H.264 streams (.ts), and HDHR HD recordings (.mpg), and DVD rips and DIVX (mpg2?).
I actually worked through a lot last night, and things look reasonable. The interface is not as snappy as the HD200, but things look ok. I still get minor stuttering, but here's where I ended up. The new Nvidia control panel is awesome -- corrects overscan without Powerstrip (it's been a LONG time since I had a client PC on the flat panel), keeps it's settings upon reset, looks marvelous in 720p. Video Renderer - EVR MPEG2 Decoder - Default DXVA - Yes H.264 Decoder -Microsoft DTV-DVD Video (I could never get the native recording patch to work in Sage 6.6, but with Sage 7, this shows up without manual intervention). Media Player for non-MPEG - DirectShow Audio Renderer -Realtek Audio HD (I have the optical cable, no HDMI audio on my recevier) MPEG2 Audio Decoder - AC3Filter (I installed 1.63b, and adjusted the config file, works great) I think so far, these are the best settings for me. One question: How would I get the Arcsoft decoder loaded (it doesn't show up in the list)? I tried to install TME, but since the HD-PVR is not connected to this client PC, it won't install the drivers.

I just got an NT330i up and running last week. So far I am happy with its performance with OTA HD as a wired network client. Displays full HD very well (recording I guess is 1080i - ABC and FOX HD my TV is 720p).
I have not done a detailed test with different video formats - should be interesting will report back later this weekend once I run it through some of the formats mentioned above....what I like the most is the footprint and how it mounts unobtrusively behind the TV. I have been using it to watch Hulu and Veoh videos a lot as well - most of those are 480p and a cakewalk....I am keen to test this out against the HD extenders in terms of performance - given that the NT330i I run is win7......so higher resource usage than the Linux platforms...

It has been really great so far!
No problems watching HD live off my server or recorded HD shows. It has a few hiccoughs playing HDTV-DivX format encoded by Sage. I have not bothered with the details of it since I convert only after watching - so once I was sure it was only a playback issue, I did not pursue it. All the older divX files etc are played back fine. It has otherwise been running trouble-free for the last couple of months since I hooked it up. Definitely recommended!! If you need me to test different playback capabilities - I'll be happy to do that and report back this weekend.

What do you guys think about the Lenovo IdeaCentre Q150?
I am contemplating pulling the trigger on this one... http://www.slashgear.com/lenovo-idea...eview-2895756/ Plus... it's $330 at newegg (after coupon...) and it has that 'funky' remote included! -Jason

$330 with the keyboard is doable. to bad you cant order it without an OS save yerself even a bit more!
I have both the ion and ionle the le is a bit iffy for hd, but the ion works fine. Id think the ion2 would be the same if not better According to that review it benchmarks slightly better so performance should not be an issue. |
