I think it is possible to run multiple instances of slimplayer (softsqueeze) with their own settings if they run under different accounts.
If you run the SageTVserver as a service under a different User from the User account running the local Sage Client, the softsqueeze settings will be stored in separate locations in the windows registry.

As an alternative for running two instances of slimplayer you could also consider buying the real thing and use it next to slimplayer (can even be sync'ed). I bought a squeezebox classic recently for only 149 Euro's (25% off in Europe) and sofar enjoyed every single second using it. It has 24 bit Burr-Brown DAC and optical output and unsurpassed operation from the included remote control. Now I can play music without turning on the TV or laptop. And if I turn on TV I can enjoy the additional features (youtube sync, artist info and news) slimplayer adds.

new STVI starts slimplayer at SageTV startup

Is there an associated Javaclass that I can add to the "load_at_startup_runnable_classes" line in Sage.properties, that would force SlimPlayer to start automatically and be visible in Squeezecenter?

Use the attached stvi instead of the original stvi.
The configuration option on slimplayer's menu has a new setting which lets you configure that slimplayer should be started at SageTV startup (i.e. when SageTv Main Menu is displayed). The default setting is that slimplayer is started when slimplayer menu is entered.

Hi Chris,

Thank you very much! I installed the new stvi and turned on the new option. However, after I restarted the server and the client (all running on the same machine) I have not seen any effect. Is there any way (log file, etc) that can help debug this? Could you think of any SageTV/SlimPlayer setting from top of your head that would prevent the new functionality from working properly.

Appreciate your help!

Best regards,
Michael.

Now that I think about it, with Phoenix coming, maybe there isn't much interest/point in developing this for SageMC?

I have an audio cable connected from the output of my PC (coming from the Realtek output) into my analog capture card (Hauppauge 950q). I also have svideo going into to my capture card from a misc video source thats active

However, if you dont use your sageTV server as a workstation (some people just put their server in a closet somewhere), then you can just connect the output of the default sound card (only sound card) into the capture card.

What sort of "video source" can be used for the analog capture card? I am using an old PVR-150 for loopback. I understand it needs video for it to work in Sage. I think I have composite (Yellow) and S-video inputs on card.

Thanks, Randy

Exactly what you have. A PVR150 should work fine.

Hi Michael,

I uploaded a new stvi in the original post which should fix the problem (autostart property was read from different location than written to)

Hi Chris,

Thank you. I installed updated stvi. However, I still don't see player starting until I manually go to SlimPlayer page in SageTV. Should it start when the SageTV server starts? Should it start just when the SageTV client GUI is initialized?

Regards,
Michael.

Question What video source can be used for loopback tuner?

Hi All,
I am asking this again since I am not sure. I am using a pvr-150 analog tuner for loopback with audio card output going into audio input on pvr-150. Can not get HD-200 extender to work although I do see my favorite radio stations and I hit play and can't hear anything. I have nothing hooked up to pvr-150 video input--do I need to put something into it?

Thanks for any help.

Randy

Michael,
The startup action is linked to the main menu of the GUI. So, it should start when the GUI's main menu is showing.
If still not working look for the
slimplayer/autostart=true setting in sageclient.properties file

I think you need a proper video signal otherwise Sage will not play the channel.
Make sure when you select a channel from the program guide which tunes into your capture device you see the video and hear the audio form your loopback device. You can do this without using slimplayer.

Koelec,

At this risk of sounding like a broken record, any news on this front?

Morgan is aware there have been many people anxiously waiting for the SageMC version. Unfortunately, all we can do is wait until he's available. I asked Kolec the same question just a few days ago. He hasn't heard from him since Morgan posted here a few weeks ago saying he's been very busy. All I can say is when Morgan does get started, I've never seen him stop until he is done with his masterpiece. He's probably waiting for a block of time to let him do it from begining to end; including the time it takes for beta testing.

Sounds good to me. Was just wondering if this had been permanently shelved. It will be a very nice addition to SageMC. Thanks for the info!

stupid question

Do I have to use the software loopback for extenders?

I have hardware loopback setup, but I can't get it to work.

When I tune to the channel for my analog device, all I get is static.

Maybe I am missing a couple of steps.

Slimplayer does not show up under online service either.

Ok, i got almost everything working now.

I can see the slimplayer in the standard STV, I can see my music, but when I go to play music I get no audio.

I have the audio setup as a hardware loopback from my DVICO Fusion HDTV gold on the composite video. Can I use this tuner or do I need to dust off my old pvr-250 for the audio to work properly?

Also when I go the info screen on slimplayer, it has the wrong audio device from my server and no server name. Does this matter?

Thanks
Dennis

Ok, I will play MP3 files no problem.

I cannot play unprotected AAC files with a .mp4 file extension.

Any ideas? It looks like the transcoding is setup. Maybe I am missing something?

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your reply.

I can confirm that I have the line
slimplayer/autostart=true setting in sageclient.properties file but slimplayer still does not autostart.

I have customized main menu - can this affect slimplayer autostart?

Regards,
Michael.

Hi Chris,

I enabled detailed log of the client. Here is the only line related to slimplayer that I can find in it:
Code:

Sun 7/26 18:05:30.285 [main@116ab4e] classpath=C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\Sage.jar;C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\xerces.jar;C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\plugin.jar;C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\;;JARs\ant-1.6.5.jar;JARs\basicplayer2.3.jar;JARs\commons-codec-1.3.jar;JARs\commons-collections-3.2.jar;JARs\commons-httpclient-3.0.1.jar;JARs\commons-jxpath-1.1.jar;JARs\commons-lang-2.2.jar;JARs\commons-logging-1.0.3.jar;JARs\commons-logging-api.jar;JARs\commons-logging.jar;JARs\core-3.1.1.jar;JARs\df_importer.jar;JARs\df_sageplugins.jar;JARs\df_sageutils.jar;JARs\df_videolib_times.jar;JARs\dvbepgimport.jar;JARs\gkusnick.sagetv.jar;JARs\jacob.jar;JARs\jcifs-1.1.6.jar;JARs\jdic.jar;JARs\jetty-6.1.11.jar;JARs\jetty-sslengine-6.1.11.jar;JARs\jetty-starter.jar;JARs\jetty-util-6.1.11.jar;JARs\jflac-1.0.jar;JARs\jl1.0.jar;JARs\jlgui2.3.2.jar;JARs\jnlp.jar;JARs\jogg-0.0.7.jar;JARs\jorbis-0.0.13.jar;JARs\jorbis-0.0.15.jar;JARs\jsch-20040429.jar;JARs\jsp-2.1.jar;JARs\jsp-api-2.1.jar;JARs\jspeex0.9.3.jar;JARs\log4j-1.2.12.jar;JARs\log4j.jar;JARs\mina-core-1.1.7.jar;JARs\mp3spi1.9.2.jar;JARs\mtsa.jar;JARs\mx4j-impl.jar;JARs\mx4j-jmx.jar;JARs\mx4j-remote.jar;JARs\mx4j-tools.jar;JARs\nativeskin.jar;JARs\nativeskinlib.jar;JARs\nielm_getstatus.jar;JARs\nielm_sageimdb.jar;JARs\nielm_sagemenureader.jar;JARs\nielm_sageutls.jar;JARs\nielm_sagewebserver.jar;JARs\nielm_sagexmlinfo.jar;JARs\resolver.jar;JARs\SageWMP.jar;JARs\sbbi-jmx-1.0.jar;JARs\sbbi-upnplib-1.0.3.jar;JARs\serializer.jar;JARs\servlet-api-2.5-6.1.11.jar;JARs\servlet.jar;JARs\shadeBlue-SageInfoPopup-1.0.6.jar;JARs\slf4j-api-1.5.5.jar;JARs\slimplayer.jar;JARs\SoftSqueeze.jar;JARs\tritonus_share.jar;JARs\vorbisspi1.0.1.jar;JARs\vorbisspi1.0.2.jar;JARs\webharvest_all_1.jar;JARs\webradio.jar;JARs\xercesImpl.jar;JARs\xercesSamples.jar;JARs\xml-apis.jar
After that line there is no mentioning of Slimplayer unless I explicitely go to the Slimplayer screen.

I also verified that when I togle autostart true/false in Slimplayer settings the SageClient.properties file gets updated accordingly, but the changes in the file do not have any impact on the Slimplayer loading behavior.

Any thoughts of what may be causing this problem?

Thank you,
Michael.
