ok, i got the ATI 550pro and it seems to work pretty well (better than the Kworld FOR SURE) but what i don't like is the picture size is narrower than my tv's analog tuner. if i watch the same station on my tv's tuner, it's about 2" wider on the tv tuner compared to the ATI 550 tuner played back on the same tv. any reason why the ATI picture size is not quite as wide?????

thanks-

TVs, (and HDTVs for sure) do not always scale content 1:1 of original aspect ratio. I would check and make sure that your tv does not actually overscan by a bit.. Sage proply setup, does not overscan at all, which I personal like...

If you have no overscan then you get to see all the garbage at the top of SD recordings from the CC data.

My TV actually has no options for overscan. If the input it receives on HDMI is RGB it applies no overscan if its YUV it does. I discovered this when Frey changed the firmware so that if your TV reports to the HD Extender that it is capable of YUV it automatically selects that as the output.

Personally, I'd rather have the overscan. TV pictures generally assume there is going to be overscan, even HD.

I've got a friend that I'm hooking up with Sage and he'll be starting from scratch. I myself have a pair of old Hauppauge PVR-250 cards and the HDHomeRun, but I'm not sure I'd recommend the same setup for him. It works well, but the 250 SD picture quality leaves a lot to be desired.

So are the 2250 cards the holy grail for somebody who wants both? Would two of them work in a Windows 2003 Server system? He would want the ability to tune SD or HD on either.

My only experience with HD tuners at all is the HDHR. How does the 2250 compare?
