Stanger,

As far as renderers, I only have two - Intervideo NonCSS for hauppauge and Intervideo. I did try both of them, with the same results.

So sad

Ah, I see how it is. No toggle, and my remote is woefully low on buttons. I may have to splurge on an IR receiver and a "real" remote.

Ren - don't you have to have the One4All emulate a different remote? Which one are you using?

Those are Decoders, renderers are the option above (Default, Overlay, VMR9). I've had trouble with video not filling the screen if I use Default on my Radeon 9500 under XP. Overlay seems to always work correctly.

Ohhh, yes of course.

One of the two results in a totally black screen when watching video. (Didn't try DVD.) I'll get flashes of the picture when I go to or from a menu, or sleep Sage. It's almost as though it's hiding the picture behind a black sheet, which gets moved briefly now and then.

Unfortunately, I don't recall whether it's Overlay or VMR that does that. It's also the one that allows for the transparent menus. I will play with it some more tonight and see if I can't get a specific behavior and report on it.

Hi, Rob-

I'm using a UIRT-USB. The 6131 is a 6-in-1 remote that actually has "PVR" as one of it's devices. I started out by setting its PVR device to emulate a ReplayTV's remote, but that left about 1/4 of its buttons unactivated. You can easily activate those "extra" buttons using the "KeyMover" programming for the O4A remotes.

With it all set up correctly, I _LOVE_ this remote - much better "feel" than the PVR250's remote, although it'll set you back about $65 (including the $50 UIRT...)

Refer to this post for some more details:

BTW - before buying a standard 6131, check out this site for their "J1" modified versions - I'd have gone that direction if I'd known about it before-hand...(not an ad/affiliate/promotion/etc...just a reference)

In case either of you are curious: if you buy the JP1 version of that remote, you don't need to get a usb-uirt unless you need it for other purposes. Since you would be able to reprogram it with new IR codes, you could continue using the Hauppauge IR receiver & still gain additional control over SageTV. See: Instructions for extending irremote.ini. Of course, it takes a little work to get used to the JP1 software, but it makes your remote work exactly the way you want it to.

Hi, guys - that's a great looking remote! I don't quite understand yet, though. Does it use the same IR receiver/wire that plugs into my PVR250?

And re: the JP1 interface, do you have to program it on the same PC you're remote-controlling?

That looks very cool. Hm. HM hm.

Thanks!

[edit]

OK, after reading some of the linked posts and looking at the remote some more, I just went ahead and ordered it with the JP1 cable. Wish me luck!

It can, but doesn't have to.

You would program the remote on any PC that has a port available for the JP1 cable. The JP1 software has nothing to do with using the remote once it is programmed. As I mention elsewhere, the JP1 software takes some work to get used to it, but it really makes the remote capable of doing whatever you want. (I 'played' with the JP1 software before I figured out I wanted the MX-700 for its LCD-labeled buttons.) Be sure to follow the links to the JP1 site to get to the Yahoo forum where the programs are located & to the forum on another site. When I've got time, I'll try to add comments regarding getting started with JP1 to one of my other remote programming threads.

OK, gotcha. I ask only 'coz I already have the PVR250 remote receiver, and I could use to get it working with that first.

That would be very nice of you. I'll check Yahoo next.

Thanks for the pointer!

rrussel: since I said I would write some JP1 info, I wanted to let you know it is now posted in another thread: How to use another remote with the Hauppauge IR receiver.
