No, The HDHR is for unencrypted digital cable and OTA digital broadcast.

No. Those of us who have Dish Network, use the HDHomerun for either Over The Air Broadcast or (like in my case) use it for QAM tuning as I have a cable modem and therefore can still pick up my locals in HD via my cable coming into my house (kind of a nice perk of having Broadband Cable Modem).

The only way to get HD programming with Dish is either the R5000 mod (if you have a VIP211 and not the new VIP211K) or the HDPVR (which I use).

This is a cry for help. Im calling, asking, begging for some help here. Specifically from someone who has successfully installed the Hauppauge 2250 onto WHS and Sage. I am hoping paulbeers, psklenar are listening, you two seem to be two that have gotten this to work on WHS. I think I have tried about everything and I know I am missing something, or doing something in the wrong order. If you could supply a detailed step by step way you installed the drivers for your HD PVR and 2250 and the selection process you used loading the sources into Sage it would be much appreciated.

I am willing to remove the drivers for both the HDPVR and 2250 to start at square 1.

Just some things to note, I have the HD PVR working just fine. The issue is the 2250. I cannot load the drivers using the "Setup" on the disk or directly from the Haupaugge downloads. I get the error that others have posted about. I have tried to pick the specific .exe files but I have a feeling I am not getting all the critical pieces of the drivers on there. When I look at the device through System->Hardware->Device Manager it says its working and I do get a signal from my Antenna when I plug it into my Pioneer TV.
As someone in a movie once said, "Teach it to me like I am a 4 year old." no stone unturned, details are great, assume nothing. Any help/support would be great, I am so close to having this server up and running I can taste it.

I'm curious, do you get other stations from you cable or just QAM?

I have been able to install from the downloadable files from Hauppauge as well as the CD. However for the CD, I had to go to the drivers directly and use that setup. The setup in the root directory picked up an error. What I would do is:

1. Use HWClear.exe to get rid of any drivers/aps. It is in to root directory of the CD or downloadable from Hauppauge.
2. Reboot.
3. Download the drivers from Hauppauge (I used the betas at http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/softw...2250_27091.zip).
4. EXTRACT the .zip to a directory (it will not work otherwise because the installer will not find the .inf files it needs - this could be your issue?).
5. Run the driver install file. You should see a gray box with some activity as the installer searches for the correct .inf file.
6. Reboot.
7. That should be it.

As a second option, I imagine you could go to the device manager, right click on the multimedia device or whatever the 2250 is called without a driver and update the driver by pointing to the directory where you extracted the Hauppauge drivers. This should get you to the same answer.

BTW, what is your specific error?

Thanks heatvent,
I will try your method to the letter. I believe the only step I may have been missing was the HWClear.exe.

I will use the device manager as a plan 2. I wasn't gettinig an error, I just wasn't getting the tuner to work.

Also, what selections did you use for the source setup in Sage? I plan to only use this for the digital OTA signals from my antenna but I have read that you have to install the analog first (which I tried). So if you have a sequence that worked for you let me I would be greatful. (once again, specifics help.)

Thanks again.

HcwDriverInstall.exe inside the directory that is extracted from the .zip file.

See my thread here (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41482). Order did not matter for me. I'm not sure about the analog first suggestion. I actually did the opposite. At the end my suggestion is to disable all channels and then scan so you Sage doesn't select channels you don't have.

Red face Disabling Sage Service

Still having a couple issues, I have read that when I install/update drivers Sage must be disabled. If this is not true please let me know. During the initial setup I selected to run in Service Mode. So, I know to close the Sage TV.exe window, using the normal "x" to close out the window. Got that part.

My Issue: I don't know how to assure Save Serice Mode is disabled. The instruction manual says "run SageTV Sercie Control application: go to Start > All Programs > SageTV, and click on SageTVServiceControl." The only options under my All Programs > SageTV folder are

Activate Exterder Licence (Something like this)
SageTV
Unactivate Extender Licence (Once again something like this)

So, I went into the install Wizard and unchecked the option to start SageTV on start-up. But I rebooted, turned on my extender and the server was still visible.

Does anyone know how to Disable SageTV completely? I am running it on WHS, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

There are two was in WHS

One go into the home console and click on the sagetv and you can stop and start service there

Two go into administrator task--services there you can find sagetv and start/stop it and set the autostart options

You can probably right click on the taskbar as well and select task manager. Look under the services tab and "end process" for any sagetv related services (I think it's called SageTVServices or something like that.
