WMP9: can read WMA files over the network by using file sharing
SageTV: wants to stream WMA data from SageTV server to SageTVClient SageTV could be made to read WMA files in the same manner of WMP9, but it's not clear that there is a means to use WMA files within the architecture of SageTV's playback system as it stands today. |

I'm personally not interested in a copy it, play it, delete it architecture. I can do without WMA, frankly. There are plenty of other codecs with no such silly restrictions. That last drop of quality/size ratio really doesn't matter to me at all. If I want quality, I choose APE. If I want small, Vorbis.

Umm, sure, but I have 5000 tracks, every one of them legally ripped from my CD collection in WMA lossless. "Re-encode" is not an option. "Use myhtpc" is.
This is the ONLY thing keeping me from ditching myhtpc as my general front end. If Sage would just let us edit the menus a little bit and call external programs, it would be great. |

I also have thousands of WMA's. I'm hoping someone will solve this somehow with studio (once its available). Maybe studio can be used to cause the wma's to show in the list within sage and then if one is selected, play it with windows media player (or you rplayer of choice). I don't know at all what studio is capable of. I'm just hoping some ingenious person will be stuck with WMA's and want to solve this with studio.
