Oh, thank god! The inlaws got a sweetheart deal with AT&T for a 3in1, and have switched to their whole house DVR. I picked up the server & 2 HD100's today, and already re-purposed the server for a kids PC so if they call to change their mind, I can say 'oh - i already gave that to the kids'.

No more: "I don't understand why sage stopped, all I did was dust" (eh, no, you kicked the power cable out of the router).

"The extender isn't working again". (eh, cuz you changed the input setting on the TV).

And so on. Of course, the 3in1 deal also has some form of router, plus the TV still has to be on the right input setting, but now I can just say "yeah, dunno, you'll have to call AT&T about that. Plus, you haven't actually volunteered to babysit the kids recently, so I gotta go."

IVB, I've been thinking about STV for my parents too, Hmmmmm, I'm undecided now!
Was going to make up a little atom box as a server, and my old HD100 for an extender.
Hmmmmmm..........

don't do it; there's nothing worse than a 10pm call from the M.I.L. with a question about the TV, the "well i can just read a book you don't need to come over", followed by the guilty stare from the wife, followed by the 15 minute drive, only to tell them that it was PBKAC. Once I just hit the "on" button on the HD100 and it all worked, and another time I re-set the input on the TV.

I'm sure they're still going to have issues, but now I don't have to drive over late at night when i'm flat-exhausted from work.
