I just renewed recently and indeed saw the yellow link next to my expiration date. In addition I also received an expiration notice in my email.

Not sure why your account did not do this. However I have had no indication from Zap2It that they have any intention of stopping the service.

This thread is getting a little long in the tooth. In order to provide more effective support, I've setup a forum for this plugin over at my site. Visit the DigiCasa Forums and log support requests there.

Cheers

Error loading EPG Import Plugin

I have installed Zap2It EPG plugin following carefully given instructions.

I am using SageTV V2.1.9 RC6 and I get error message:

Thu 10/28 7:33:04.312 Error loading EPG Import Plugin of:java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/xerces/parsers/SAXParser.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

I had a similar problem at least (although I'm not sure how it just cropped up out of nowhere).

You need to search your drive for xerces.jar, there should be one in your java install directory. I don't remember if I had one and replaced it, or if mine was missing. Note that some other apps (like Paint Shop Pro, for example) also have/use their own xerces.jar... that one is no good to you. You need a working one in your java directory.

Ok, mosey on over to http://xml.apache.org/xerces2-j/ and download the latest stable binaries from the master site, or one of the mirrors. I used Xerces-J-bin.2.6.2.zip. Unzip the file and place the xerces.jar file into your java install directory, similar to mine here:
C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_06\lib\ext

Note that the file will be named xercesImpl.jar in the zip file - just rename to xerces.jar and drop it into the path as noted above.

My problems with the xerces parser were resolved after obtaining this file.

Anyone know if the Zaptoit service is having problems? I haven't been able to get guide data for 2 days now. My account is still active, I can log into it fine, but Sage doens't seem to be getting anything from it.

Found the problem, it was on my end. The XML file was somehow locked and could not be overwritten. The machine must have crashed during a download at some point.

Lester Jacobs thank you for your work. Today I'm up and running with Sagetv and your plugin. I would have never understood XMLTV.

Can't access digicasa.com for the plug in.

I can't seem to get to the digicasa.com site to download this plug in. Any suggestions? I just rebuilt my machine and I need to redo the plug in.

I'm having a problem getting Canadian listings. I've followed the instructions and get to the point to where I type "00000" for my zip code. The next screen says "Select a cable or satellight distributer" or something to that effect. And that's it, it just sits at that screen, with no options, forever. I'm sure I missed a simple step but I looked over the instructions on the link on the first page of this post and can't find what it is.

I forget the order. I know for my setup I indicated that my input is using the tuner on the card (in my case a PVR250 card). I think after that I said I wanted to subscribe to EPG or something like that. Then entered the zip code of 00000. After that in my case it gave me I think Rogers Rexdale (toronto) or something like that. Then I had the choose for basic or extended (I choose Extended). All in all I think it only took me 5 minutes or so to get through everything (on a cable modem).

Not sure if that helps or not.

In my case, I don't have any options for Basic or extended. In any city. I have a zap2it account, I've used it for GBPVR and Media Portal. It works. I don't understand.

Yes, I followed your instructions exactly. I modified both files.

However, this might be it. I downloaded those java files on that site and didn't reboot after I copied them into the java directory. Could that be it?

Also I'm using a newer version of java than the one listed. Maybe that's it.

This was discussed previously although I couldn't find any solution. I got the EPG data to import successfully using the method described earlier in this post, however noticed that nearly every episode of every show is marked "First Run". I set Sage to record all First Runs of Simpsons and was shocked to see it schedule 10 episodes over the next two days, some other them 10 years old.

I thought it might be bad EPG data from zap2it, and a few people using Sage said they are having the same problem. But not very many (at least, that admit it). Opal sent me here and I think it might have something to do with the way we get EPG data using this method. It at least seems a big coincidence.

Is there any advice one this? I'm using Sage 2.2.7 and Cayar 17 (although when I disable Cayar, shows are all still First Run).

Most firstrun/rerun problems can be corrected by setting the rerunlogic flag in the config file to "aggressive". Please see the readme file included in the plugin download for details.

I have found that the firstrun/rerun status obtained directly from Zap2it to be unreliable. By setting the rerunlogic to aggressive, the plugin cross checks the status reported by Zap2it against the Original Air Date and attempts to correct any discrepancies.

Regards
Lester

The same config file where you entered your username and password for the plugin to use when connecting to the zap2it site (zap2itconfig.xml I believe). The zap2itreadme.txt file gives details of all the possible parameters that you can modify in this file (in addtion to username and password).
