English Manual For txmuxer

You may find other helpful info on Blu ray here.

Ripbot264 May be another option, but it will re-compress, taking a very long time to process.

OK something I have notice but not sure if its due to MKV files or the fact I just upgraded both Sage and SageMC.

I dont have the option to either start a movie from last position or start from beginning.

Any ideas?

You can have both…

My DVD collection is ripped as main movie in ts_video folders and set as an import path through Sage. With that I can still create playlists of these movies despite the fact that they aren’t a single file. At the same time, I can still pause, rewind, FF etc, all with the best quality and best sound since I haven’t spent hours compressing it… Also, if I stop the movie it will resume playback there at a later time…

What’s the problem with keeping the main movies in their original folder structure with no compression? Hard drives are cheap.

In your original post you indicate that the movies play fine for you… Are you saying that it is difficult for anyone else to play your ripped DVD collection? That doesn’t make sense… Your DVD collection ripped as folders with multiple .vob files should be just as easily played as one of your most recent television recordings, provided it is set up as an import directory.

I rip the DVD with AnyDVD. Run VideoReDo QuickStream fix on the VOB files, saving them to MPEG2 files. Then use VideoReDo to join the MPEG file segments together as one large MPEG file. Then edit out any commercials. Then compress to MPEG4 with SageTV video compression. I am not sure how create chapter marks on the MPEG2 file, maybe that feature could be added to SageTV.

Compressed videos do playback on the MVP, but the videos have to be transcoded back to MPEG2 on-the-fly with the computer. A fast 3.0 gig E6850 dual-core CPU can playback two compressed files with two MVPs at the same time while recording programs and compressing other programs. A slower CPU, like an Althlon 2800+ can barely transcode one compressed video on-the-fly without doing anything else.

How are you able to do a playlist with .vob files? If this is true this solves all my problems.

I could care less about space. I just want to be able to select three movies and have them play back to back handsfree. As far as I understand, this is impossible with DVDs in .vob format as it is telling itself to return to menu and it never (ends the file).

They did play fine. I was really happy, until I found out I couldnt use the playlist, then I wanted to find a way to do what was already being done and also support the playlist. Understand?
